NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Mooresville, N.C. native and talented breaststroker Desirae Mangaoang<\/strong> will head to College Station next fall after verbally committing to Texas A&M University.<\/p>\n

Mangaoang, who swims year-round with SwimMAC Carolina, owns the Summer Juniors standard in both breaststroke events and finished 23rd in the 100m breast at Junior Nationals this past summer. She finished 18th in the 200 breast and 22nd in the 100 breast at Juniors East in December before going on to earn silver in the 200m breast and bronze in the 100m breast at Indianapolis Speedo Sectionals in February.<\/p>\n

While representing the Philippine Swimming Federation, she recently competed in all three breaststroke events at FINA World Juniors. Her best time in the 100m breast (1:11.05) and 200m breast (2:32.04), both of which were set at Indianapolis Speedo Sectionals in 2019, are Philippine National Records.<\/p>\n

Also competing for Lake Norman High School, Mangaoang is a three-time North Carolina 4A State Championship finalist. She placed fourth in the 100 breast and fifth in the 200 IM as a junior after racing to fourth in the former event during her sophomore season. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts.<\/p>\n
