The 2020 Olympics will have morning finals and the Chinese are trying to acclimate with a lower pressure meet with finals in the morning. Many of China&#8217;s best swimmers are not in attendance including\u00a0<strong>Sun Yang<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Xu Jiayu\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Li Bingjie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Sun has been in the news all year as he is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sun-yang-anti-doping-controversy-case-put-back-to-late-october-will-be-held-in-public-cas-reveals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">awaiting a hearing<\/a> with the Court of Arbitration for Sport in October.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 800 Free<\/h3>\n<p>Taking advantage of no\u00a0<strong>Sun Yang\u00a0<\/strong>in the field,\u00a0<strong>Ji Xinjie\u00a0<\/strong>won his third title of the week with an 8:01.65 in the 800 free final, adding on to his wins in the 200 and 400 free earlier in the meet. The other Chinese participant in Gwangju in this event was\u00a0<strong>Qin Haiyang<\/strong>, who has since lost his world junior record to Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/shoma-sato-breaks-world-junior-record-in-200-breast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Shoma Sato<\/strong><\/a>. Zhang moved up to tied for 17th in the world rankings as she sits next to USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Charlotte Hook<\/strong>. Zhang&#8217;s time would have put her in the thick of things of the final at the World Championships. She did not swim this event at the World Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Zhang took down <strong>Zhang Yufei\u00a0<\/strong>(2:08.03), who already sits tenth in the world rankings with a 2:07.36 from April. He has been the fastest man in China the last few years with the absence of 2015 World Champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ning-zetao-pulls-out-of-chinese-national-championships-stalling-comeback\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Ning Zetao<\/strong><\/a>.
