Kostoff will officially assume his new position on Aug. 30.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very fortunate to add Jeff to our staff. Jeff is an experienced and exceptional coach, and by all accounts an even better person,&#8221; said Kremer. &#8220;We are looking forward to having him on deck and getting started on this new season.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A member of the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame, Kostoff comes to the Maroon and Gold after spending three seasons as an assistant coach for the Cardinal. During his tenure with Stanford, Kostoff helped coach the men&#8217;s team to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2017-mens-pac-12-championships-live-recap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2017 Pacific-12 Conference Championship<\/a>. Also under Kostoff&#8217;s tutelage, junior <strong>Abrahm Devine<\/strong> swam his way to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/stanfords-abrahm-devine-swims-third-fastest-400-im-in-history-on-night-three-of-ncaas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">national championship in the 400 IM<\/a> in the 2017-18 season, the school&#8217;s first NCAA title in any event since 2014. Additionally, Kostoff trained over half the Stanford men&#8217;s team to NCAA qualifying times in each of his three years on staff.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>&#8220;I could not be happier to be returning to the Big Ten Conference and in particular, to the University of Minnesota,&#8221; said Kostoff. &#8220;Minnesota not only has a successful swimming and diving program, but is also a great school located in a fantastic city.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Prior to Stanford, Jeff Kostoff served as an assistant coach at Indiana University from 2013-16, where he coached U.S. National Team members <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wTBJRmwjXh4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Zane Grothe<\/strong><\/a> and <strong>Lindsay Vrooman<\/strong>. Kostoff&#8217;s coaching resume also includes four years as an assistant at the University of Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his collegiate coaching career, Kostoff previously coached throughout various USA Swimming clubs, summer leagues and high school teams from 1991-99.<\/p>\n<p>As a student-athlete at Stanford, Kostoff was a two-time U.S. Olympian and five-time NCAA Champion (1983-87). Kostoff also swam on two U.S. World Championship teams during his collegiate career, setting 12 American records from 1982-86 and winning three NCAA team championships from 1985-87.
