World Junior Swimming Championships (Gabor Zombori, Thomas Ceccon)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Budapest, Day 1 Prelims<\/em><\/p>\n

Hungary\u2019s Gabor Zombori<\/strong>, racing in his nation’s capital,\u00a0and\u00a0Italy\u2019s Thomas Ceccon<\/strong>\u00a0got the FINA World Junior showcase off to a fast start with meet records in their respective events.<\/p>\n

Zombori thundered out a 3:46.97 in the 400m freestyle to take down the previous championship record held by Australia\u2019s Mack Horton<\/strong> (3:47.12), who went on to be Olympic champion in 2016.<\/p>\n

Ceccon look down the meet mark in the\u00a0100m backstroke with a 54.07 that cracked the 54.27 standard established by Spain\u2019s Hugo Gonzalez in 2017.<\/p>\n

The men\u2019s 400 free, women\u2019s 400 IM, men\u2019s 100 breast, women\u2019s 100 back, women\u2019s 50 breast made up the solo program, while the men\u2019s 4×100 free relay and the women\u2019s 4×200 free relay concluded the first morning of racing.<\/p>\n
