China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Qin Haiyang\u00a0<\/strong>didn&#8217;t win the 200 IM, getting touched out by\u00a0<strong>Mitch Larki<\/strong><strong>n<\/strong>, but he moved into the top 10 in the world in the process.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese crowd was also rather excited with wins from\u00a0<strong>Ji Xibjie\u00a0<\/strong>in the 1500, <strong>Hou Yawen\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 free and <strong>Yan Zibei\u00a0<\/strong>in the 50 breast.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/omegatiming.com\/2019\/fina-swimming-world-cup-jinan-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.finatv.live\/en\/competitions\/2019-sw-world-cup\/video\/swimming-finals-9-aug-2019-08-09-jinan-sw-world-cup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live Stream<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Back<\/h3>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Vladimir Morozov\u00a0<\/strong>tied the World Cup record in the 50 back on Friday night at the FINA World Swimming Cup in Jinan with a 24.43 to tie his own record he set last year. This is Morozov&#8217;s second win of the weekend after his impressive 21.5 last night in the 50 free where he just missed the meet record but also swam faster than he did at the World Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Morozov carried that momentum into Friday night as he did not do the 50 back at the World Championships but his time would have tied the gold medal winning time from\u00a0<strong>Zane Waddell\u00a0<\/strong>from the final night of the World Championships. the swimmer of the meet this weekend in Jinan, China at the FINA World Swimming Cup. He broke the 100 free World Cup record with a 47.99 to take down the old record of 48.11 that was set by\u00a0<strong>Blake Pieroni\u00a0<\/strong>in 2018. The time was much better than what Morozov swam at the World Championships when he didn&#8217;t make it out of the semifinals with a 49.0. Morozov is now ranked 12th in the world with his swim as he finished ahead of Pieroni (48.15) and <strong>Szebasztian Szabo\u00a0<\/strong>(48.63).<\/p>\n<p>Pieroni also had a solid swim as he was not far off his 47.8 from Worlds when he was fourth in the individual final in Gwangju.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>He Junyi\u00a0<\/strong>(48.67) and Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Santo Condorelli\u00a0<\/strong>(48.73) finished fourth and fifth in the final as He tied his time from Worlds and Condorelli swam 0.07 faster than he did in the heats.<\/p>\n<table class=\"finals Larkin\u00a0<\/strong>and China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Qin Haiyang\u00a0<\/strong>were in a great race in the 200 IM on Friday night at the 2019 FINA World Swimming Cup in Jinan as Larkin got the upper hand with a 1:57.26 over Qin at 1:57.34. Larkin has the fastest time in the world this year but couldn&#8217;t quite match that at the World Championships, only managing a seventh place finish in Gwangju. Qin did not swim this at Worlds, electing to swim the 200 breast instead. Qin moved up to eighth in the world with his swim.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Thomas Fraser-Holmes\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.29) finished in third place while the Friday night session of the 2019 FINA World Swimming Cup in Jinan with a win in the 1500 free at 15:16.15 over fellow Chinese\u00a0<strong>Meng Rui\u00a0<\/strong>(15:17.85). Ji swam at the World Championships a couple weeks ago and only managed a 15:15 so it has to be a good sign for him and his coach to be able to be right where he was at Worlds a couple weeks later. Ji reached the final in the 400 free at the start of the week.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brennan Gravley\u00a0<\/strong>finished third, which ranks him out of the top 50 in the world. Coleman was second at 1:59.07 after leading for the majority of the race. Coleman has enjoyed a nice comeback year after sitting out 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zsuzsanna Jakabos\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.28) finished in third place ahead of Hosszu did not swim this event at the World Championships to instead focus on the 200 IM. It wasn&#8217;t a season best for Hosszu since she was a 59.2 at the FINA Champions Series in Budapest. She was in a tight race with Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emily Seebohm<\/strong>, who finished in second at 59.76. Seebohm has also been quicker this year with a 59.4 last week.<\/p>\n<p>This has to be a good sign for both swimmers to be able to swim fast on an extended rest as they start gearing up for the Olympic year next year.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Chen Jie\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.74) finished in third place as she was only a tenth off her fastest swim from the World Championships a couple weeks ago. Irvine\u00a0<\/strong>had a solid end to the night on Friday at the 2019 FINA World Swimming Cup in Jinan. Irvine swam a 1:55.94 in the 200 fly as he was right on his season best of 1:55.8. He did not make the World Championships team for Australia so this had to feel good knowing he could swim right at his best as he is looking to gain some momentum heading into the Olympic year. Irvine is ranked 15th in the world and is the second fastest Australian this year.<\/p>\n<p>He finished ahead of fellow Aussie\u00a0<strong>Nic Brown\u00a0<\/strong>(1:57.32), who was not far off his season best of 1:56.5 from April.
