Miranda Heckman<\/strong> put together a consistent race to take the top seed in the 400 free, heading into finals.<\/p>\nThe swimmer from Pleasanton Seahawks took the top seed in 4:17.14, holding off Jillian Cox<\/strong> of Austin Trinity Aquatic Club, who finished in 4:17.22.<\/p>\nBoth times were 10 seconds off the meet record, set in 2012 by Gillian Ryan<\/strong> (4:07.26) but being prelims, both could have more in the tank during finals, setting up an intriguing race.<\/p>\nEllie Marquardt<\/strong> of ATOM took the third seed in 4:17.30 and could easily be in the mix for the title.<\/p>\nHana Shimizu-Bowers<\/strong> took the fourth seed in 4:17.70, the only other swimmer to finish under 4:18.<\/p>\nSMAC’s Yulia Groysman<\/strong> took the fifth spot in 4:18.62, followed by Kaitlynn Sim<\/strong>s (4:19.06), Long Island Aquatic Club’s Lauryn Johnson<\/strong> (4:19.59) and teammate Bella Antoniuk<\/strong> (4:19.87).<\/p>\n![\"Screen](\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Screen-Shot-2019-08-08-at-1.21.58-PM.png\")

Men’s 400 Free<\/h2>\n
James Plage<\/strong> used an impressive 29.29 split on his final 50 to hold off the field and take the top seed in the men’s 400 free at the 2019 Speedo Junior Nationals.<\/p>\nThe AquaBears swimmer finished the race in 3:55.77 to earn the top seed for tonight’s final.<\/p>\n
His time was a little more than five seconds off the meet record of 3:51.44 set by Alexander Zettle<\/strong> in 2017.<\/p>\nSwim MAC’s Jack Walker<\/strong> took the second seed in 3:56.01 to finish ahead of Mason Manta Rays’ Jacob McDonald<\/strong>, who finished in 3:56.85, the only other swimmer to break 3:57.<\/p>\nChristopher Mykkanen<\/strong> of Novaquatics took the fourth seed in 3:57.47, using a 28.97 final split.<\/p>\nDylan Moffatt<\/strong> took the fifth seed in 3:58.09, followed by Cole Kuster<\/strong> (3:58.40), Luke Maurer<\/strong> (3:58.47) and Ben Forbes<\/strong> (3:58.48) of Clovis.<\/p>\n![\"Screen](\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Screen-Shot-2019-08-08-at-1.21.58-PM-1.png\")

Women’s 100 Fly<\/h2>\n
Fast Co’s Lucy Bell<\/strong> inched closer to breaking a minute in the 100 fly during prelims at junior nationals.<\/p>\nBell took the top seed in the event at 1:00.44 to finish 32 hundredths ahead of the field. She had a consistent swim and had enough for a 30.91 split to close her swim.<\/p>\n
Her time was nearly two seconds behind the meet record of 58.69 set by Dakota Luther<\/strong> in 2017, but after prelims, she could have more in the tank for a faster finals.<\/p>\nDynamo’s Tristen Ulett<\/strong> took the second seed in 1:00.76, followed by Megan Pulley<\/strong> (1:00.83).<\/p>\nRachel Klinker<\/strong> was also under 1:01, finishing in 1:00.88 to take the fourth seed.<\/p>\nKaitlyn Winter<\/strong> grabbed the fifth seed with a swim of 1:01.06, followed by Megan Glass<\/strong> (1:01.12), Sarah Snyder<\/strong> (1:01.14) and Mackenzie McConagha<\/strong> (1:01.19).<\/p>\n![\"Screen](\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Screen-Shot-2019-08-08-at-1.21.58-PM-2.png\")

Men’s 100 Fly<\/h2>\n
Stanford commit Ethan Hu<\/strong> performed well in his future home pool on Thursday. The Peak swimmer took the top seed in the 100 fly in 54.13.<\/p>\nHe split a 25.88, followed by a 28.25 to earn that top seed at the 2019 Speedo Junior Nationals.<\/p>\n
