Dressel won six gold medals at Worlds and also won two silver medals. But his best achievement was probably his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/caeleb-dressel-shatters-100-fly-world-record-in-49-50-rome-2009-phelps-vs-cavic-battle-is-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">world record in the 100 fly<\/a> that took down\u00a0<strong>Michael Phelps&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong>2009 mark of 49.82. Dressel swam a 49.50.<\/p>\n<p>Dressel also broke two American records in the 50 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/dressel-posts-world-textile-best-of-21-04-as-he-wins-50m-freestyle-gold-tie-for-second\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">21.04<\/a>) and 100 free (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/caeleb-dressel-dives-into-history-with-46-96-pioneering-sub-47-top-fend-off-kyle-chalmers-47-08\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">46.96<\/a>), swimming the fastest time in textile in both events. He was a part of both gold medal winning 4&#215;100 free relays, swimming a 47.63 to lead off the men&#8217;s relay and a 47.34 to lead off the mixed relay. Dressel also had the fastest split of all-time in the 100 fly with a 49.33 on the mixed 4&#215;100 medley relay that got beat by Australia. Dressel will be aiming to make his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-introduces-2016-olympic-team-caeleb-dressel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">second Olympic team<\/a> and will also be looking to win his first individual Olympic medals in his career.
