The 2019 Swimming Futures Championship continued for day three in Greensboro, NC. Events included the 200 fly, 50 free, 200 breast, 100 back, and 400 free. Marlins of Raleigh\u2019s Ashley Wordon\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Sarasota Tsunami\u2019s <\/span>Anna Freed<\/b> were two of the top place finishers of the night, both dominating the field by bringing home gold in both the 200 fly and 100 back, respectively. Close races in both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s 50 free had competitors inching each other out for the top spot. Fast swims, close races, time drops and even some Olympic Trial cuts were had.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 200 Fly\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Placing first in the 200 fly was Marlins of Raleigh\u2019s <\/span>Ashley Wordon<\/span><\/strong>. Wordon clocked in at a 2:14.57, dropping over a second to achieve the Olympic Trial cut. Second place went to Blue Dolfins\u2019 <\/span>Lockett Bowley <\/span><\/strong>with a 2:16.18. <\/span>Sumner Chimielewski<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/span>unattached, placed third with a 2:18.03. <\/span><\/p>\n

North Palm Beach\u2019s <\/span>Jennifer Secrest<\/strong> (<\/span>2:18.08.), Tac Titans\u2019 <\/span>Taylor Bloom <\/span><\/strong>(<\/span>2:18.45), SBSC\u2019s <\/span>Evelyn Sierra<\/strong> <\/span>(2:19.38), Marlins of Raleigh\u2019s <\/span>Caroline Crouse<\/strong> <\/span>(2:20.24), and TCA\u2019s <\/span>Blair Stoneburg <\/span><\/strong>(<\/span>2:20.95) rounded out the top eight. <\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 200 Fly\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Elliot Cooper<\/b> of Avon Community Swim Team\u2019s brought home the gold in the men\u2019s 200 fly with a 2:03.11 – over a two-second drop. Second place went to North Florida Swimming\u2019s <\/span>Tyler Watson<\/b> in a 2:03.71. <\/span>Matthias Brown<\/b> of Atomic City was the third place finisher in a 2:05.80.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tac Titans\u2019 <\/span>Cameron Thomas<\/b> (2:05.83), Avon Community\u2019s <\/span>Jackson Vanwanzeele <\/b>(2:05.97), Sarasota\u2019s <\/span>Alexander Gusev <\/b>(2:08.03), Jupiter Dragons\u2019 <\/span>Caleb Petranchuk<\/b> (2:08.23), and South Bend\u2019s<\/span> Samuel Sierra <\/b>(2:06.17) completed the top eight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women’s 200 Breast\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Dropping over three seconds to place first in the women’s 200 breast was Marlins of Raleigh’s Genevieve Joyce<\/strong>. Joyce clocked in at a 2:33.72. Second place went to Sarasota’s Gracie Weyant<\/strong>. Blue Dolfins’ Madison Koutavas<\/strong> placed third with a 2:37.94.<\/p>\n

Atomic City’s\u00a0Saige Kemeny<\/strong> (2:38.14), MAC’s Paige Thome<\/strong> (2:39.52), Tennessee Aquatics’\u00a0Hannah Holman<\/strong> (2:39.74), Rockford’s\u00a0Masy Folcik<\/strong> (2:40.22), and South Florida’s\u00a0Olivia Dinehart<\/strong> (2:39.93) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Breast<\/h2>\n

Placing first for the men was Atomic City’s\u00a0Bryar Long<\/strong>. Long touched the wall at a 2:18.65, dropping over a second. Marlins of Raleigh’s Connor Dalbo<\/strong> placed second with a 2:19.46. Third place went to Sailfish’s Matthew Lucky in a 2:21.58.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the top eight was Mid-Michigan’s\u00a0Phillip Meffert<\/strong> (2:22.52), T2’s Andrew Garner<\/strong> (2:23.01), Harnett County’s\u00a0Jordan Mintz<\/strong> (2:23.13), Marlins of Raleigh’s Bode Rigenbach<\/strong> (2:24.15), and North Florida’s\u00a0Jackson Skigen<\/strong> (2:26.75).<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 50 Free\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

It was a tight race for the top eight in the women\u2019s 50 freestyle. Ultimately bringing home the gold was thirteen-year-old <\/span>Gabrielle Vanbrunt<\/b> of Greenfield Community in a 26.12. Second place went to Seminole\u2019s fifteen-year-old <\/span>Stephanie Akakabota<\/b> with a 26.22. Blue Dolfins\u2019 <\/span>Megan Hansen <\/b>placed third with a 26.39.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

North Palm Beach\u2019s <\/span>Jennifer Secrest<\/b> (26.59), Mecklenburg Swim\u2019s <\/span>Eboni McCarty<\/b> (26.66), Eagle Aquatics\u2019 <\/span>Erika Pelaez<\/b> (26.74), RATS\u2019 <\/span>Sarah Evans<\/b> (26.75), and Dynamo\u2019s <\/span>Peyton Curry <\/b>(27.16) completed the top eight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 50 Free\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

It was a tight race for the top eight as well in the men\u2019s 50 free, with almost every finisher going sub-24. First place went to Nashville Aquatics\u2019 <\/span>Spencer Jyawook<\/b> with a 23.43. Right behind him was Performance Aquatics\u2019 <\/span>Josiah Morales <\/b>in a 23.51. Academy Aquatics\u2019 <\/span>Robert Cecil <\/b>took third with a 23.58.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Completing the top eight was Sky Family YMCA\u2019s <\/span>Wesley Kephart <\/b>(23.67), Lake Lytal\u2019s <\/span>Reese Branzell<\/b> (23.68), unattached <\/span>Stephen Jones <\/b>(23.82), Sunkist\u2019s <\/span>Bryan Sullivan <\/b>(23.93), and Dynamo\u2019s <\/span>Idris Muhammad <\/b>(24.06).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 100 Back\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

After her win in the 200 fly just events before, Sarasota Tsunami\u2019s <\/span>Anna Freed<\/b> took home the gold in the women\u2019s 100 back, dropping almost two seconds to clock in at a 1:02.71. Enfinity Aquatic Club\u2019s <\/span>Morgan Jones<\/b> took second in a 1:03.42. Right behind her was Pine Crest\u2019s <\/span>Julia Podkoscielny<\/b>, placing third with a 1:03.46.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unattached <\/span>Lily Welsh<\/b> (1:03.60), CANE\u2019s <\/span>Alaina Skellett <\/b>(1:03.64), Grosse Pointe Gators\u2019 <\/span>Sophie Housey<\/b> (1:03.79), Performance Aquatics\u2019 <\/span>Helen Hsu<\/b> (1:04.25), and Dynamo\u2019s <\/span>Kyla Maloney <\/b>(1:04.95) rounded out the top eight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 100 Back\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Placing first for the men and achieving the Olympic Trial cut as Fins Swim Team\u2019s <\/span>Erek Nelson <\/b>with a 56.33. Second place went to Tac Titans\u2019 <\/span>Alexander Tomlinson<\/b> in a 57.04, Placing third was Enfinity\u2019s <\/span>Tucker Burhans <\/b>with a 57.56.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unattached <\/span>Lance Norris<\/b> (57.98), Mid-Michigan\u2019s <\/span>John Ryan <\/b>(58.55), City of Mobile\u2019s <\/span>Stephan Conrad <\/b>(58.64), Dynamo\u2019s <\/span>Ryan Patterson<\/b> (58.65), and Marlins of Raleigh\u2019s <\/span>Colin Cotter<\/b> (58.88) rounded out the top eight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 400 Free\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Marlins of Raleigh\u2019s <\/span>Adrianna Cera <\/b>claimed the win in the last women\u2019s event of the night with a two second drop to clock in at a 4:20.65. Second place went to Sarasota\u2019s <\/span>Addison Sauickie <\/b>with a 4:21.97. <\/span>Stella Grace Watts <\/b>of Area Tallahassee clocked in at a 4:22.83 to place third.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Atomic City\u2019s <\/span>Emily Aycock<\/b> (4:22.90), Fast Lane\u2019s <\/span>Madison Murtagh<\/b> (4:23.60), Sarasota\u2019s <\/span>Savannah Barr <\/b>(4:25.85), Marlins of Raleigh\u2019s <\/span>Madeleine Bachand <\/b>(4:27.09), and North Palm Beach\u2019s <\/span>Nicole Gomez <\/b>(4:33.32) rounded out the top eight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 400 Free<\/b><\/h2>\n

In the final top three of the night, each finisher was sixteen years old or younger. Tac Titans\u2019 fifteen-year-old <\/span>Braeden Haughey <\/b>dominated the final event of the night, placing first and beating the nearest opponent by four seconds. Haughey clocked in at a 3:56.42, achieving the Olympic Trial cut. Second place went to City of Mobile\u2019s fifteen-year-old <\/span>Andrew Jordan <\/b>with a 4:00.56. Chattahoochee\u2019s sixteen-year-old <\/span>Grant Davis<\/b> took third with a 4:01.15.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unattached <\/span>Lance Norris<\/b> (4:01.57), Central Florida\u2019s<\/span> Riley Sampson<\/b> (4:02.90), Race Aquatics\u2019 <\/span>Neal Wolfram <\/b>(4:04.12), SRQ\u2019s <\/span>Dimiter Zafirov<\/b> (4:05.41), and Central Florida Marlins\u2019 <\/span>Noah Smith<\/b> (4:12.57) completed the final top eight of the night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
