{"id":387347,"date":"2019-08-03T15:43:13","date_gmt":"2019-08-03T22:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=387347"},"modified":"2019-08-03T15:43:13","modified_gmt":"2019-08-03T22:43:13","slug":"2019-phillips-66-usa-swimming-nationals-day-four-finals-start-lists-katz-out-of-100-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2019-phillips-66-usa-swimming-nationals-day-four-finals-start-lists-katz-out-of-100-back\/","title":{"rendered":"2019 Phillips 66 USA Swimming Nationals: Day Four Finals Start Lists: Katz Out of 100 Back"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The fourth night of finals from the 2019 Phillips 66 USA Swimming Nationals from Palo Alto, California will have three total finals with the 400 free, 100 breast and 100 back as well as the men&#8217;s 4&#215;200 free relay to close out the night.\u00a0<strong>Austin Katz\u00a0<\/strong>was the only notable A-Final scratch as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/austin-katz-final-50-of-the-mens-200-back-earns-him-the-gold\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">200 back champion<\/a> pulled out of the 100 back A-Final.<\/p>\n<p>Finals will begin at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2019-us-nationals-day-four-finals-heat-sheets-day-4-usa-senior-national-2019-08-03.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HEAT SHEETS<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ally McHugh\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Cierra Runge\u00a0<\/strong>are the top seeds in the women&#8217;s 400 free as they were the only ones to break 4:10 in the heats. The final will also feature a 15-year-old\u00a0<strong>Claire Tuggle\u00a0<\/strong>and 2012 Olympic silver medalist\u00a0<strong>Allison Schmitt<\/strong>. It should be a fantastic race and not necessarily be about the time.<\/p>\n<p>NC State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Eric Knowles\u00a0<\/strong>is the top seed in the men&#8217;s 400 free ahead of Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elijah Winnington<\/strong>, who was a 3:44 earlier this year. Winnington did not make Australia&#8217;s World Championships team but he did <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/u-s-nationals-aussie-elijah-winnington-disrupts-american-flow-in-200-freestyle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">win the 200 free<\/a> on Thursday night in Palo Alto. Winnington is the second seed.<\/p>\n<p>2012 Olympian\u00a0<strong>Breeja Larson\u00a0<\/strong>is the top seed in the women&#8217;s 100 breaststroke as she will have four high school students swimming alongside her in the final.\u00a0<strong>Emily Weiss<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Zoie Hartman<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kaitlyn Dobler\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Ellie Andrews\u00a0<\/strong>are also in the A-Final of the 100 breaststroke. Weiss and Hartman will be headed to Indiana and Georgia this fall.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 100 breast will be a very tight race as the top eight are all separated by seven tenths of a second. Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Craig Benson\u00a0<\/strong>is the top seed for the final. He did not make Great Britain&#8217;s World Championships team but is still going to be a force in the A-Final. He will line up alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/reece-whitley-out-touches-daniel-roy-in-200-breaststroke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">200 breast champion<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Reece Whitley\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Devon Nowicki<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amy Bilquist<\/strong>, despite being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/amy-bilquist-returns-from-broken-hand-to-nationals-just-in-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">injured earlier this summer<\/a>, is the top seed in the women&#8217;s 100 back. She will have her hands full with\u00a0<strong>Claire Curzan\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Annabel Crush<\/strong>, who will look to move up the 15-16 national age group rankings list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shaine Casas\u00a0<\/strong>has had a very good meet this week in Palo Alto, moving up to third fastest American this year in the 200 back.
