The second night of Speedo <\/span>Futures Des Moines saw numerous close finishes and many swimmers claim their first event title.<\/span> The night was filled with several close finishes that ended in ties.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After a dominating performance, the Austin Swim Club maintains its lead boasting a combined total of 313.5 points. Behind them for second is Cypress Fairbanks Swim Club accumulating 193 combined points. Currently in third is Flyers Aquatic Swim Team racking up 190.5 combined points.<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 200 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n

The events top seed, <\/span>Aurora Roghair<\/b>, of Iowa Flyers captured the crown by more than a second. The 16-year-old touched the wall at 2:02.68 after a second and a half time drop. Following behind for second place was <\/span>Kaitlynn Wheeler <\/b>from Springfield YMCA at 2:03.94. Touching in third was <\/span>Madelyn Mechling<\/b> who dropped almost two seconds at 2:04.40. Placing fourth was <\/span>Emily Bucaro <\/b>at 2:04.85, behind her, was <\/span>Eleni Kotzamanis <\/b>at 2:06.18. Rounding out the top 8 were <\/span>Carson Kaufmann <\/b>(2:06.63) and <\/span>Karly Merriott <\/b>(2:07.20).<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 200 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n

Jaden Luo <\/b>of Austin Swim Club and <\/span>Carter Nelson<\/b> of Flyers Aquatics both slammed into the wall at the same time (1:53.10) tying for first. Behind the pair was Springfield YMCA\u2019s <\/span>Matthew Knox<\/b> touching at 1:53.55. Following for fourth was <\/span>Niccolo Velasquez<\/b> at 1:53.68, then came <\/span>Aaron Kohler <\/b>at 1:54.74. Finishing sixth was <\/span>Aiden Farley <\/b>at 1:54.78, behind him, was <\/span>Juan Ceresa <\/b>(1:54.81) and <\/span>Christian Hedeen<\/b> (1:54.91).<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 100 Breast<\/b><\/p>\n

16-year-old <\/span>Adry Kasemets <\/b>saw a one-second drop, the Patriot Aquatics member claimed her first event title of the meet hitting a 1:12.63. Trailing behind her for second <\/span>Katie McBrantey <\/b>of Pitchfork Aquatics<\/span> at 1:12.64. <\/span>Maxine Parkinson<\/b> of Delta Aquatics and <\/span>Moriah Ross <\/b>of Central Iowa Aquatics touched at 1:12.75 tying for third. <\/span>Eleni Gewalt <\/b>touched next at 1:12.82, ahead of <\/span>Moly Urkiel <\/b>at 1:13.45. Following for seventh was <\/span>Dannie Dilsaver <\/b>at 1:13.49, and then <\/span>Katie Stonehocker<\/b> at 1:13.84.<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 100 Breast<\/b><\/h3>\n

Utah Valley\u2019s <\/span>Ryan Sorensen <\/b>captured the crown at 1:04.00. He was chased to the finish by <\/span>Charles Bennet<\/b> of Power For Life touching at 1:04.27. Coming in third was <\/span>Connor Funke <\/b>of Greater Omaha at 1:04.47. <\/span>Adam Fusti-Molnar <\/b>touched at 1:04.55 for fourth. Right behind <\/span>Fusti-Molnar<\/b> was <\/span>Ben Wiegand<\/b> who finished at 1:04.86. <\/span>Liam Kerns <\/b>touched next at 1:05.14, ahead of <\/span>Tanner Nelson <\/b>at 1:06.00. Rounding out the top 8 was <\/span>Tyler Penney <\/b>who<\/span> came in at 1:06.70.<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 100 Fly<\/b><\/h3>\n

17-year-old <\/span>Catherine Russo<\/b> of Bozeman Multisport<\/span> narrowly<\/span> placed first touching at 1:00.61. Right behind<\/span> Russo<\/b> was <\/span>Katherine Zenick <\/b>slamming into the wall at 1:00.73. Following for third was <\/span>Scarlet Martin <\/b>from Eastern Iowa at 1:01.20.<\/span> Coming in at fourth was <\/span>Morgan Brophy<\/b> at 1:01.77. Right behind <\/span>Brophy<\/b> was <\/span>Marina Spadoni <\/b>posting a 1:02.15, followed by <\/span>Anna Ervin <\/b>at<\/span> 1:02.23. Then came <\/span>Sarah Kutz <\/b>at 1:02.52 and rounding out the top 8 <\/span>Greta Olson <\/b>at 1:02.70.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 100 Fly<\/b><\/h3>\n

The winner <\/span>Jason Schroeder <\/b>claimed this event after successfully dropped almost two seconds (55.14). For second <\/span>Conor McKenna<\/b> of Texas Ford Aquatics slammed into the wall with a time of 56.32 and for the third, was <\/span>John Plutt <\/b>of Pueblo County Swim at 56.55<\/span> . In fourth was <\/span>Evan Bock <\/b>with a 56.74, fifth was <\/span>James Pinter <\/b>and <\/span>Thomas Lundin<\/b> tying at 57.13. Coming in seventh place was <\/span>Daniel Matheson<\/b> who touched at 57.17 and eighth place went to <\/span>Jacob Walters <\/b>(57.57).<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 400 IM<\/b><\/h3>\n

The winner<\/span> Rylie Lopez <\/b>of Austin Swim Club dropped more than three seconds and beat the field coming in at 4:55.32. Following behind for second was Austin Swim Club teammate <\/span>Sarah Kutz <\/b>at 4:58.79. Above the five minute mark, touching for third was <\/span>Laura Carver <\/b>at 5:00.59. Placing fourth was <\/span>Katie McBratney <\/b>at 5:00.65, then touched <\/span>Riley Courtney<\/b> at 5:02.37. Rounding out the top 8 were <\/span>Emily Giles<\/b> (5:02.63), <\/span>Malia Rausch <\/b>(5:03.37) and <\/span>Dannie Dilsaver<\/b> (5:05.53).<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 400 IM<\/b><\/p>\n

Utah Valley\u2019s <\/span>Tanner Nelson <\/b>100 breast finalist had enough in the tank to capture the crown at 4:27.97. He was followed to the finish by <\/span>Munzer Kabbara<\/b> of Cypress Fairbanks touching at 4:28.83. Coming in third was Cypress Fairbanks teammate <\/span>Cameron Dafoe <\/b>at 4:28.86. <\/span>Andrew Reiter <\/b>touched at 4:31.11 for fourth. Right behind <\/span>Reiter was <\/span>Ryan Trichler<\/b> who finished at 4:33.57. <\/span>Daniel Matheson <\/b>touched next at 4:34.09, ahead of <\/span>Spencer Hohm <\/b>at 4:35.57.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
