Rapsys was in control during the entire race which came as no surprise since he was fourth last week at World Championships with a 3:43. Rapsys won tonight in Tokyo ahead of New Zealand&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zac Reid\u00a0<\/strong>(3:50.25) and Canada&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jeremy Bagshaw\u00a0<\/strong>(3:52.20).<\/p>\n<table Schoenmaker\u00a0<\/strong>broke the second World Cup meet record of the night with a 2:22.35 on Friday night at the FINA World Swimming Cup in Tokyo, Japan. Schoenmaker broke the meet record of 2:22.87 that\u00a0<strong>Viktoria Gunes\u00a0<\/strong>set in 2015 in Dubai. Schoenmaker had a solid back half as she won ahead of Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Reona Aoki\u00a0<\/strong>(2:24.33).<\/p>\n<p>Schoenmaker also went faster than she did to win the silver medal at World Championships but was actually a 2:21 in the semifinals. Breast<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Ilya Shymanovich\u00a0<\/strong>of Belarus broke the third World Cup meet record of the night on Friday night at the FINA World Swimming Cup in Tokyo. Shymanovich swam a 58.73 in the 100 breast to lower the record of 58.97 from\u00a0<strong>Cameron van der Burgh\u00a0<\/strong>set in 2015. Shymanovich was looking to have a much stronger World Cup showing than what he had at the World Championships last week. He was 12th at Worlds after coming in as the second fastest performer in history. His 58.73 was faster than what he swam in the heats in Gwangju as he won tonight ahead of Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Yasuhiro Koseki\u00a0<\/strong>(59.01) and USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Wilson<\/strong> (59.02).<\/p>\n<p>Koseki was fourth at World Championships while Wilson was sixth. Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nicolo Martinenghi\u00a0<\/strong>(59.23) was also in the mix placing fourth tonight. Hosszu did not swim this event at the World Championships but her season best time puts her third in the world this year with her 2:06 from the FINA Champions Series. Hosszu was in a good race with Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brianna Throssell<\/strong>,\u00a0 who finished second at 2:07.36. The time was a new season best for Throssell, who was a 2:07.39 in June and she moved up to 10th in the world rankings. Swimming Cup in Tokyo with a 51.34 in the 100 fly. Seliskar improved on his 51.43 from the heats and is now tied for sixth in the world with Hungary&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Szebasztian Szabo<\/strong>. Seliskar won the final ahead of Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Grant Irvine\u00a0<\/strong>(51.63) and Szabo (51.67).<\/p>\n<p>Seliskar is now the second fastest American this year as he only swam the 200 free and 4&#215;200 free relay last week at World Championships. Irvine is also the third fastest Australian for 2019. The time is faster than what Melverton swam at World Championships, where she was 11th with a 4:09. Belmonte was second at 4:06.81, who also went faster than her 4:10 from Worlds last week.
