The 2019 Futures Championships Mt. Hood, Oregon kicked off this afternoon. This meet is taking place at the Mt. Hood Aquatic Center from August 1-4.<\/p>\n
The events contested today were the women’s 800 free, men’s 1500 free and the 800 free relays. The night’s competition saw close finishes and major time drops as Cathryn Salladin<\/strong> and Parker Reynolds\u00a0<\/strong>proved their distance might.<\/p>\n Results can be found on Meet Mobile under 2019 Futures Championships Mt. Hood.<\/p>\n Cathryn Salladin<\/strong> of La Mirada Armada won a close race for gold, winning in a time of 8:59.57. Only three tenths behind, Ryan Falk<\/strong> of Tualatin Hills Swim Club took home second-place honors with a time of 8:59.86, while Sarah Nowaski<\/strong> of College Area Swim Team dropped over nine seconds to finish third (9:00.66).<\/p>\n In fourth place was La Mirada Armada’s Kathleen Sulkevich<\/strong> with a time of 9:01.81, while College Area Swim Team’s Danielle Nowaski<\/strong> finished fifth clocking in at 9:02.95. Nicole Salladin<\/strong> of La Mirada Armada grabbed sixth place (9:03.95), followed by North Coast’s Sydney Jackson<\/strong> (9:06.66) and Mission Viejo Nadadore’s Stella Copeland<\/strong> (9:07.51). La Mirada Armada proved their distance swimming brilliance with three swimmers within the top eight.<\/p>\n Parker Reynolds<\/strong> of Santa Maria Swim Club emerged victorious after dropping more than 10 seconds with a time of 15:41.79. In second place to make it a 1-2 for Santa Maria was teammate Blake Simpson<\/strong> who also dropped more than 10 seconds clocking in at 15:49.48. Mason Carlton<\/strong> of Quicksilver Swimming took third in a time of 15:59.85.<\/p>\n Santa Maria’s Wyatt Marsalek <\/strong>finished in fourth place (16:02.58), while James Miller<\/strong> of Fast Swim Team nabbed fifth place (16:03.59) and Luke Hobson<\/strong> of Lakeridge finished sixth (16:08.22). Davis Taylor<\/strong> of Mission Viejo Nadadores (16:09.55) and Hayden Johnson<\/strong> of Dart Swimming (16:10.10) rounded out the top eight swimmers. Santa Maria Swim Club showcased their fine form with three swimmers out of the top eight.<\/p>\n Tualatin Hills Swim Club’s “A” quartet of Lily Gardner, Sofia Nosack, Ryan Falk, Elizabeth Cook<\/strong> took home the title in a time of 8:21.59. They beat out their nearest rivals by almost nine seconds. In second place was Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics with a time of 8:30.51.<\/p>\n The “B” team from Tualatin Hills Swim Club took bronze in 8:32.51 to get two teams from Tualatin on the podium.<\/p>\n Tualatin Hills Swim Club swept the relays to win comfortably (Samuel Donchi, Diego Nosack, Marco Nosack, Trenton Martinez<\/strong>) in a time of 7:37.95. Taking home the silver was the team from North Bay Aquatics in a time of 7:40.59, while the team from Dart Swimming came in third with a time of 7:45.03.<\/p>\n After the first night of competition, Santa Maria Swim Club leads on the men’s side while Tualatin Hills Swim Club leads on the women’s side. The top overall team scores as of Day 1 are:<\/p>\n The 2019 Futures Championships Mt. Hood continues tomorrow with the 200 free, 100 breast, 100 fly, 400 IM and 400 free relays.
