Women’s 200 Back (Asia Seidt)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It’s been quite the summer for Asia Seidt<\/strong>, the three-time SEC champion in the 200 backstroke. Just a few weeks after capturing the silver medal in her prime event at the World University Games<\/a>, Seidt added a national title to her resume by racing away from the competition in 2:08.90. Seidt’s performance handed her a comfortable victory over Emma Seiberlich<\/strong> and Erin Voss<\/strong>, who shared second place in 2:10.86.<\/p>\n

Seidt was not far off the time she posted at WUGs in Napoli, Italy, where she covered the 200 back in 2:08.56 and finished behind American teammate Lisa Bratton<\/strong>. Although Regan Smith<\/strong>, who blasted a world record<\/a> of 2:03.35 at the World Championships, will be the overwhelming favorite for an Olympic bid to Tokyo next year, Seidt could have herself in the mix for the other spot. Seidt is the fifth fastest American this year.<\/p>\n

Coming in closely behind Seiberlich and Voss was Emma Atkinson<\/strong> with a time of 2:10.96.\u00a0In fifth was Lucie Nordmann<\/strong> (2:11.43), with sixth going to Chloe Hicks<\/strong> (2:11.43). In seventh was Abi Wilder<\/strong> (2:12.02), and in eighth was Natalie Mannion<\/strong> (2:14.63).<\/p>\n
