Day one of finals looks promising as the young teens, Regan Smith<\/strong> and Luca Urlando<\/strong>,\u00a0hold the top seeds in the 200 fly. Adding to this young talent is Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong>, who won this mornings prelims by over a second.<\/p>\n

Another must see race tonight is the men\u2019s 100 free, where Ryan Held<\/strong> looks to topple more records.<\/p>\n

The first night of finals begins with the 200 fly, followed by the 100 free, the women’s 800 free, the men’s 1500 free, and concluding with the men’s 4×100 free relay.<\/p>\n

Regan Smith<\/strong> smashes her prelim time by nearly two seconds going a 2:07.26 and claiming the gold. Smith was only .48 seconds off of last weeks gold medalist at Worlds, Hungary’s\u00a0Boglarkaoff Kapas<\/strong>, and .21 off of fellow American and silver medalists,\u00a0Hali Flickinger<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Followed with a close race for second was Lillie Nordmann<\/strong> with a time of 2:07.43, and in third was Dakota Luther<\/strong> with a time of 2:07.76.<\/p>\n

In fourth was Olivia Carter<\/strong> (2:08.22), in fifth was Megan Kingsley<\/strong> (2:08.26), in sixth was Emily Large<\/strong> (2:08.39), in seventh was Katie Drabot<\/strong> (2:08.56), and in eighth was Taylor Pike<\/strong> (2:10.68).<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 Fly\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The 200 fly has seen phenomenal swims this past week with Kristof Milak<\/strong> beating Michael Phelps<\/strong> world record with a time of 1:50. 73 at Worlds, but another great swim was Luca Urlando<\/strong> claiming the gold with a time of 1:54.92.\u00a0Urlando has accomplished great speeds at the age of 17 and will be shooting for records in the upcoming year.<\/p>\n

Takin the silver was Miles Smachlo<\/strong> with a time of 1:55.94, and capturing the bronze was Nicolas Albiero<\/strong> with a time of 1:56.05.<\/p>\n

Followed closely behind in fourth was Trenton Julian<\/strong> (1:56.09), in fifth was Bowen Gough<\/strong> (1:56.65), in sixth was Brooks Fail<\/strong> (1:57.00), in seventh was Corey Gambardella<\/strong> (1:57.32), and in eighth was Justin Wright<\/strong> (1:58.79).<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Free\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> manages to touch the wall .95 of a second in front of her competitors with a time of 53.18, and claims the gold.<\/p>\n

In a tie for second was Gretchen Walsh<\/strong> and Erika Brown<\/strong> with a time of 54.13.<\/p>\n

In fourth was Catie Deloof<\/strong> (54.28), in fifth was Natalie Hinds<\/strong> (54.34), in sixth was Allison Schmitt<\/strong> (54.81), in seventh was Linnea Mack<\/strong> (54.87), and in eighth was Isabel Ivey<\/strong> (54.97).<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Free\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Breaking his own U.S. Open and meet record, Ryan Held<\/strong> wins the race with a time of 47.39.<\/p>\n

In second was Maxime Rooney<\/strong> with a time of 47.61, followed in third by Tate Jackson<\/strong> with a time of 47.88.<\/p>\n

In fourth was Dean Krueger<\/strong> (48.07), in fifth was Daniel Krueger<\/strong> (48.55), in sixth was Jack Conger<\/strong> (48.64), in seventh was Robert Howard<\/strong> (48.71), and in eighth was Bowe Becker<\/strong> (49.00).<\/p>\n

Women’s 800 Free\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

With a close race, Ally McHugh<\/strong> gets her hand on the wall first with a time of 8:26.04.<\/p>\n

Coming in second was Sierra Schmid<\/strong>t with a time of 8:27.13, followed closely by Ashley Twichell<\/strong> with a time of 8:27.36.<\/p>\n

In fourth was Kensey McMahon<\/strong> (8:28.68), in fifth was Haley Anderson<\/strong> (8:29.11), in sixth was Emma Weyant<\/strong> (8:29.31), in seventh was Cierra Runge<\/strong> (8:29.87), and in eighth was Chase Travis<\/strong> (8:32.46).<\/p>\n

Taking the win by nearly five seconds was Bobby Finke<\/strong> with a time of 14:51.15.<\/p>\n

Claiming the bronze was Michael Brinegar<\/strong> with a time of 15:00.82.<\/p>\n

The men’s 4×100 free was a close race with Ohio State with swimmers, Andrew Loy<\/strong>, Ruslan Gaziev<\/strong>, Matthew Abeysinghe<\/strong>, and Paul Delakis<\/strong> taking the win with a time of 3:18.44.<\/p>\n

Coming in second place was Australia with swimmers, Elijah Winnington<\/strong>, Louis Townsend<\/strong>, Matthew Temple<\/strong>, and Bowen Gough<\/strong> with a time of 3:18.67.<\/p>\n

In third place was the Aggie Swim Club with swimmers, Adam Koster<\/strong>, Mark Theall<\/strong>, Mike Thibert<\/strong>, and Clayton Bobo<\/strong> with a time of 3:19.48.<\/p>\n
