Heat sheets for tonight&#8217;s session can be viewed at the link below. Finals will begin at 8:00 p.m. Eastern standard time and can be viewed at nbcsports.com.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2019-us-nationals-day-one-finals-heat-sheets-day-1-usa-senior-national-2019-07-31.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HEAT SHEETS<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The only major scratch for tonight was 2016 Olympian <strong>Tom Shields<\/strong>, who pulled out of the 200 fly final where he was the second seed behind\u00a0teenage sensation\u00a0<strong>Gianluca Urlando<\/strong>. There was no major cause of concern for Shields, who simply stated he scratched so he could fly to the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. The swimming portion of the Games will start August 6 and Shields presumably wanted to get a tune-up swim at Nationals before then.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Great little swim this morning. Held swam the third fastest time in the world this morning and also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ryan-held-breaks-us-open-record-in-100-free-at-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">broke the US Open record<\/a> that was held by\u00a0<strong>Jason Lezak<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>New world record holder\u00a0<strong>Regan Smith\u00a0<\/strong>will be the top seed in the 200 fly as she will be on the lookout for some more fast times after having an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/as-regan-smith-emerges-for-team-usa-a-reminder-of-missy-franklins-breakthrough\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">incredible short week in Gwangju last week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 800 and men&#8217;s 1500 timed finals will also be held tonight with\u00a0<strong>Haley Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Zane Grothe\u00a0<\/strong>returning from Gwangju to swim tonight. Notably, World University Games gold medalist\u00a0<strong>Kaersten Meitz\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-university-games-gold-medalist-kaersten-meitz-withdraws-from-us-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pulled out of
