The United States is the top seed and will be looking to win this relay for the second World Championships in a row. The Americans have won the women&#8217;s 4&#215;100 medley relay at four of the last five World Championships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Regan Smith\u00a0<\/strong>will lead off the Americans in the relay tonight, fresh off a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/regan-smith-shatters-missy-franklins-200-back-world-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">world record<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/regan-smith-secures-first-world-title-in-200-back-just-misses-wr-with-203-69\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gold medal<\/a> in the 200 backstroke earlier in the meet. She will give way to 100 breast gold medalist\u00a0<strong>Lilly King<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kelsi Dahlia\u00a0<\/strong>and 100 free gold medalist\u00a0<strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong>. That relay looks tough to beat but Australia has won two of the three women&#8217;s relays thus far and will be looking for a sweep.\u00a0<strong>Minna Atherton\u00a0<\/strong>will lead them off as she won the silver in the 100 back earlier in the week.\u00a0<strong>Jess Hansen\u00a0<\/strong>is the key leg for the Aussies since she was 10th in the 100 breast, two seconds behind King. It will be difficult for\u00a0<strong>Emma McKeon\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Cate Campbell\u00a0<\/strong>to make up that deficit, but Campbell was able to run down Manuel in the mixed medley relay earlier in the week so maybe it is possible.<\/p>\n<p>The battle for bronze will be a tight one as Canada is looking in good shape to upgrade its fourth place finish from 2017.\u00a0<strong>Kylie Masse<\/strong>, who won the 100 back gold medal earlier in the meet, will lead off and\u00a0<strong>Kierra Smith\u00a0<\/strong>will go second. 100 fly gold medalist\u00a0<strong>Maggie MacNeil\u00a0<\/strong>will swim butterfly although she was well off her winning individual time in the mixed medley relay, only splitting a 56.74 compared to her 55.8 in the individual 100 fly.\u00a0<strong>Penny Oleksiak<\/strong>, who has had some incredible relay splits this week, will provide a solid anchor for the Canadians.
