Day seven prelims will feature athletes competing for spots in the women&#8217;s 50 free, men&#8217;s 50 back, women&#8217;s 50 breast, the mixed 400 free relay, and the men&#8217;s 1500 free.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 50 free hosts a whopping 11 heats of competition with European superstars\u00a0<strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Pernille Blume<\/strong> holding the top two seeds. The 50 free is yet another one of Sjostrom&#8217;s events to defend from 2017, but one cannot count out fellow sprint stalwarts\u00a0<strong>Cate Campbell,\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong>, or reigning Olympic champion Blume.<\/p>\n<p>With the 2017 medalists missing, the men&#8217;s 50 back podium is guaranteed to see new faces. Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kliment Kolesnikov<\/strong>, the current World Record holder, holds the top seed going into the preliminary heats and is sure to be a favorite for the gold.<\/p>\n<p>After a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/update-lilly-king-200-breast-disqualification-upheld-by-jury-of-appeal-wont-swim-200-breast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">disappointing disqualification from the 200 breast<\/a>,\u00a0the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lilly King<\/strong>\u00a0will seek to defend her 50 breast title with vigor. King and Russian rivol\u00a0<strong>Yulia Efimova<\/strong>\u00a0are seeded 1-2 for the 50 and have each collected one gold medal each at the 2019 FINA World Championships, so the 50-meter race will be the tie-breaker between the two.<\/p>\n<p>Four heats will compete in the mixed 400 free relay, with France and the Netherlands currently holding the top two seeds. The USA, the Netherlands, and Canada were the top three finishers in this event at the 2017 edition of the World Championships.<\/p>\n<p>The morning will conclude with four heats of the men&#8217;s 1500 free, with the top eight competing for a spot on the podium on the final night of competition. Germany&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Florian Wellbrock<\/strong> holds the top seed, while Ukraine&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mykhailo Romanchuk<\/strong> (silver medalist from 2017) hosts the second fastest seed time. Reigning World Champion\u00a0<strong>Gregorio Paltrinieri<\/strong> will swim in heat four of four, while 2017 bronze medalist\u00a0<strong>Mack Horton<\/strong> is not listed on the heat sheet.
