Contenders a the 2019 FINA World Championships are dropping left and right.<\/p>\n<p>USA\u2019s <strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong>, Australia\u2019s <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> and Canada\u2019s <strong>Taylor Ruck<\/strong> have all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katie-ledecky-forced-out-of-1500m-free-final-and-200m-heats-by-illness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">withdrawn<\/a> from the 200 free for various reasons, changing the dynamic of the field.<\/p>\n<p>But there are still plenty of legit medal contenders in the 200 free heading into the Day 3 semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022<a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2019-fina-world-championships-day-3-finals-heat-sheet-day-3-international-elite-2019-07-23.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> DAY 3 FINALS START LISTS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"http:\/\/omegatiming.com\/2019\/18th-fina-world-championships-sw-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LIVE RESULTS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/siobhan-haughey-building-legacy-as-hong-kongs-greatest-swimmer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Siobhan Haughey<\/strong><\/a> will have lane four for the first semifinal, flanked by Canada\u2019s <strong>Penny Oleksiak<\/strong> and China\u2019s <strong>Yang Junxuan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the second semifinal, Sweden\u2019s <strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> will have the top seed and lane four, flanked by Australia\u2019s <strong>Ariarne<\/strong> <strong>Titmus<\/strong> and Italy\u2019s <strong>Federica Pellegrini<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Ledecky also is out of the 1500 free final, leaving Italy\u2019s <strong>Simona Quadarella<\/strong> as the favorite, while Germany\u2019s <strong>Sarah<\/strong> <strong>Kohler<\/strong>, Hungary\u2019s<strong> Anja Kesely<\/strong> and USA\u2019s <strong>Ashley Twichell<\/strong> will look to crash the party.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s 100 back final managed to keep all of its stars as Canada\u2019s<strong> Kylie Masse<\/strong> will have the top seed and lane four, flanked by compatriot <strong>Taylor Ruck<\/strong> and Australia\u2019s <strong>Minna Atherton<\/strong>. Meanwhile, USA\u2019s <strong>Kathleen Baker<\/strong> and <strong>Olivia Smoliga<\/strong> will be side-by-side in lanes six and seven, respectively, and Australia\u2019s <strong>Kaylee McKeown<\/strong> will be in lane two.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 100 back final, China\u2019s<strong> Xu Jiayu<\/strong> has the top seed and will be flanked by USA\u2019s <strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> and Russia&#8217;s <strong>Evgeny Rylov<\/strong>. But Australia\u2019s <strong>Mitch Larkin<\/strong>, USA\u2019s <strong>Matt Grevers<\/strong> and Japan\u2019s <strong>Ryosuke Irie<\/strong> are also strong contenders, leaving no one out of this race.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s 100 breast final will be the expected battle between USA\u2019s <strong>Lilly King<\/strong> and Russia\u2019s<strong> Yulia Efimova<\/strong>, while Japan\u2019s <strong>Reona Aoki<\/strong> and South Africa\u2019s <strong>Tatjana Shoenmaker<\/strong> look to break into the medals.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 200 free final, Australia\u2019s <strong>Clyde Lewis<\/strong> has the top seed, but will face a host of contenders, led by China\u2019s <strong>Sun<\/strong> <strong>Yang<\/strong>, Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Duncan Scott<\/strong> and Lithuania\u2019s <strong>Danas Rapsys<\/strong>, who will all aim for the world title.<\/p>\n<p>In the 50 breast semis, <strong>Adam Peaty<\/strong> will have lane four, flanked by Brazil\u2019s <strong>Felipe Lima<\/strong> and Belarus\u2019 <strong>Ilya Shymanovich<\/strong>, while USA&#8217;s <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> will aim to make the final as well.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 fly semifinals, Japan\u2019s <strong>Daiya Seto<\/strong> will have lane four in the first semi, while <strong>Kristof Milak<\/strong> will have the fourth lane in the second semifinal, right next to South Africa\u2019s <strong>Chad le Clos<\/strong> in lane three.<\/p>\n<p>It should be a compelling Day 3 of the 2019 FINA World Championships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So what in the world is up with the 200 free?
