Guy eased off on the final 50 and still managed to post the top time into the semifinals, ahead of China\u2019s <strong>Sun Yang<\/strong> (1:46.22) and Russia\u2019s <strong>Martin Malyutin<\/strong> (1:46.29). Guy was the 2015 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fina.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">world champion<\/a> and is looking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/james-guy-slays-stacked-mens-200-free-field-at-2015-fina-world-championships\/\">get his title back<\/a> from Sun, who won it in 2017. Sun captured his fourth straight world title in the 400 freestyle on the first night of competition.<\/p>\n<p>Australia\u2019s <strong>Kyle Chalmers<\/strong> had a tremendous finish in his heat swim and is fourth for the semifinals at 1:46.36. Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Duncan<\/strong> <strong>Scott<\/strong>, who had the top time last year, is seeded fifth for semis at 1:46.45.
