RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, August 27. LESS than a month after suspending the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil-based anti-doping lab LADETEC, the World Anti-Doping Agency has not instituted a revocation of the lab’s accreditation following “non-compliance with the International Standard for Laboratories” according to Play True Magazine.<\/p>\n
Play True reports that the lab, which was initially suspended on August 8, will have the revocation in place on Sept. 25, which means that LADETEC will not be able to perform any anti-doping analysis for “WADA or any testing authority.”<\/p>\n
LADETEC now has 21 days to appeal the punishment to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. This is the second period of time that LADETEC has been under serious jeopardy after having first drawn a nine-month suspension in Jan. 2012. <\/p>\n
This is a huge blow to the confidence of those attending major sports events, including the 2016 Rio Olympics, that the events will be as cheat-free as current testing standards allow.<\/p>\n
