The fourth night of the 2019 Speedo Sectionals Mt. Hood saw numerous close finishes and many swimmers claim a new event title.<\/span> Meguru Hotta <\/b>and <\/span>Kaitlyn Dobler<\/b> both claimed another gold Medal. Bringing <\/span>Hotta\u2019s <\/b>total to three and <\/span>Dobler\u2019s <\/b>to four.<\/span><\/p>\n

After a dominant first few days of competition, the Denver Hilltoppers were able to maintain their lead and win the meet with a combined total of 2015 points. Behind them for second was Tualatin Hills accumulating 1691 combined points. Finishing third was Phoenix Swim Club racking up 1576 combined points.<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 200 IM<\/b><\/h3>\n

After a three-second time drop<\/span>, Kaitlyn McCoy<\/b> of Phoenix Swim Club moved up from her seventh seed to capture the first event with a time of 2:19.66. Swimming into second place was <\/span>Morgan Brophy<\/b>, who was close behind <\/span>McCoy<\/b> posting a time of 2:19.91. For third <\/span>Emma Matous<\/b> of Tualatin Hills followed with a 2:21.01. <\/span>Mary Codevilla<\/b> finished fourth with 2:21.08, followed by <\/span>Lauren Burckel<\/b> at 2:22.190. Then came <\/span>Katharine Adams<\/b> at 2:23.05, <\/span>Charity Pittard<\/b> at 2:23.71, and <\/span>Brandi Vu<\/b> at 2:25.07.<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 200 IM<\/b><\/h3>\n

Phoenix Swim Club\u2019s <\/span>Meguru Hotta<\/b> claimed his third title as well in this event after a massive six-second drop with a time of 2:03.34. Behind him was <\/span>Jack Hoagland <\/b>who won the 200 free earlier in the meet of Charger Aquatics in second at 2:04.07. <\/span>Jackson Cunningham <\/b>of Swim Utah touched at 2:05.91 for third.<\/span> Fourth place went to <\/span>Lukas Miller<\/b> at 2:06.70, followed by <\/span>Andrew Britton<\/b> at 2:07.57, <\/span>Harrison Lierz <\/b>at 2:08.27. Coming in seventh was <\/span>Kyle Benjamin<\/b> at 2:10.63 and following behind for 8th was <\/span>Diego Nosack <\/b>at 2:10.95.<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 1500 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n

Sixteen-year-old <\/span>Kathryn Shanely <\/b>saw a 16-second drop, the Foothills Swim Team member claimed her first event title of the meet hitting a 17:02.61. Trailing behind her for second <\/span>Sara McClendon <\/b>of Swim Utah<\/span> at 17:13.55. <\/span>Lucia Davis <\/b>800 free and 400 free champion of Bronco Swim Club touched at 17:13.64 for third. <\/span>Mia Rankin <\/b>touched next at 17:14.71, ahead of <\/span>Allison Bernier <\/b>at 17:14.99. Touching the wall at sixth <\/span>Haley Hil <\/b>touching the wall at 17:19.81, followed by <\/span>Millia Ruthven <\/b>at 17:20.70, and <\/span>Kylie Ney<\/b> at 17:35.22.<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 1500 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n

Swim Neptune\u2019s <\/span>Ellis Bohon <\/b>captured the crown at 16:06.48. He was chased to the finish by <\/span>Daniel Matheson<\/b> of Scottsdale Aquatic Club touching at 16:06.56. Coming in third was <\/span>Rhys Winter <\/b>of Swim Utah at 16:15.27. <\/span>Brandon Shreeve <\/b>touched at 16:18.42 for fourth. Right behind <\/span>Shreeve<\/b> was 800 free and 400 free champion <\/span>Kevin Jackson<\/b> who finished at 16:20.88. <\/span>Jesse Haraden <\/b>touched next at 16:21.94, ahead of <\/span>Cooper Kiel <\/b>at 16:22.33. Rounding out the top 8 was <\/span>Jackson McDonald <\/b>who<\/span> came in at 16:23.53.<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 50 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n

Claiming her fourth title of the meet 100 free winner <\/span>Kaitlyn Dobler <\/b>once again placed first by almost a second at 25.68. Behind<\/span> Dobler<\/b> was <\/span>Anna Shaw <\/b>of Denver Hilltoppers 26.39. Following for third was <\/span>Chloe Larson <\/b>from Cougar Aquatics at 26.45.<\/span> Coming in at fourth was <\/span>Eleanor Beers<\/b> at 26.50. Right behind <\/span>Beers<\/b> was <\/span>Avery Turney <\/b>at a 26.64, followed by <\/span>Jenna Smith <\/b>at<\/span> 26.66. Then came <\/span>Katharine Berkoff <\/b>winner of the 200 free and 200 back at 26.73 and rounding out the top 8 <\/span>Aysia Leckie<\/b> at 26.88.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 50 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n

The splash and dash was anyone’s race with the whole heat being under 24 however <\/span>Ethan Luc<\/b> claimed the title in this event after a half-second drop with a time of 23.18. For the second <\/span>Casper Corbeau<\/b> of Tualatin Hills who slammed into the wall with a time of 23.33 and for the third it was <\/span>Fischer Basham <\/b>of Denver Hilltoppers at 23.39. In fourth was <\/span>Jackson Gainer <\/b>with a 23.47, fifth was <\/span>Lukas Miller<\/b> at 23.57. Coming in sixth place was 100 free winner <\/span>Hugo Sykes<\/b> who touched at 23.69. Seventh place went to <\/span>Darragh Mahns<\/b> (23.94) and eighth place went to <\/span>Cale Berkoff <\/b>(23.99).<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 400 Medley Relay<\/b><\/h3>\n

The last night of relays saw another successful finish for the \u201cA\u201d team from the University of Denver Hilltoppers secured first place with a time of 4:15.33. Coming in three seconds later was the Tualatin Hills \u201cA\u201d team took second with a time of 4:18.02. Rounding out the podium was Phoenix Swim Club taking bronze at 4:19.70.<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 400 Medley Relay<\/b><\/p>\n

On the men’s side, the Swim Utah \u201cB\u201d team sprinted into the wall claiming the event title posting a time of 3:47.49. Behind them was previous relay winners, the Denver Hilltoppers \u201cA\u201d team at 3:52.80. The Hilltoppers barely out-touched the third-place finishers of Elevation Athletics who came into the wall at 3:52.82.<\/span><\/p>\n
