CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts, August 29. WHEN it came to hiring a new assistant coach for the Harvard men’s team, new head coach Kevin Tyrrell decided to focus on hiring the best person for the job, and that person wound up being Samantha Pitter of MIT.<\/p>\n
Pitter previously assisted at the Massachusetts Institution of Technology the past five years, having also taken over the program as the Acting Head Coach while Dawn Dill was on maternity leave last year. <\/p>\n
During her time at MIT, especially as the Acting Head Coach, the Engineers had an impressive surge in their program’s history, including their best finishes ever at NCAA last year. The men took third and the women took eighth last year, with a total of 33 school records falling for both the men and the women. <\/p>\n
Pitter graduated from Hamilton College in 2007, where she was a four-time All-American as well as a team captain. She graduated from Hamilton with a double major in Economics and Communication. In 2011, Pitter completed her Master’s of Education in Physical Education Specializing in Coaching from Boston University. She also coached masters swimmers while at Boston, and at Harvard as part of the Cambridge Masters Swim Club.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
