The McHugh brothers stole the spectators hearts again and went 1-2 in the Mens 200 Breaststroke. University of Minnesota&#8217;s <strong>Tevyn Waddell<\/strong> won both the 200m Backstroke and 100 Butterfly tonight, which gave some serious points to her team. University of Texas in Austin Commit <strong>Peter Larson<\/strong> showcased his talent to take on his second backstroke win of the weekend. Wisconsin Aquatics, Fox Valley Swim Team, and Elmbrook Swim Club continue to be in the lead.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Speedo Sectionals in Minneapolis\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sidearmstats.com\/minnesota\/swim\/index.htm\">live results<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/UMNRecSports\">webcast<\/a>\u00a0can be found on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/swimmpls.blogspot.com\/\">meets home page<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><b>Women&#8217;s 200m Backstroke<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2019-speedo-sectionals-minneapolis-day-2-isabelle-stadden-wins-100-back\/\">Last night\u2019s<\/a> 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle runner up, <strong>Tevyn Waddell<\/strong>, showed up today extra ready to win today and not take second for an answer. Waddell, of University of Minnesota, destroyed the field by four seconds to win the event at a 2:10.78. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wisconin Aquatics <strong>Margaret Guanci<\/strong> touched at a 2:15.08 to take second. Less than a second behind Guanci was <strong>Jamie Kolar<\/strong>, who clocked in at 2:15.85 to take the bronze. Not only did Larson win, he also qualified for the Olympic trials with his time of 2:02.07 tonight. 15 year-old <strong>Griffin O\u2019Leary<\/strong> took second with a 2:05.59, and untouched 21 year-old <strong>Michael Tegeler<\/strong> at 2:05.98.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">University of Minnesota\u2019s <strong>Nicholas Saulnier<\/strong> (2:07.11) placed fourth. Also the clear winner of the 800 freestyle on Thursday, Rachel Stege of Fox Valley Swim Team won the 400 Freestyle at an Olympic Trial Cut time at 4:13.36.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Katherine Sullivan<\/strong> (4:19.36) and <strong>Madison Waechter<\/strong> (4:20.71) completed the top three. <strong>Abbey Erwin<\/strong> took home fourth at 4:20.85, and <strong>Magdalena Emary<\/strong> took fifth at 4:25.04. University of Minnesota&#8217;s very own, <strong>Lindsey Kozelsky<\/strong> (1:09.52) won the event by a second over the field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Lucy Thomas<\/strong> of Elmbrook Aquatics (1:10.35) and <strong>Avalon Schultz<\/strong> of Wisconsin Aquatics (1:10.65) touched second and third respectively. <strong>Vanessa Hermann<\/strong> (1:11.28), <strong>Jenna Silvestri<\/strong> (1:11.77), and <strong>Lily Borgenheimer<\/strong> (1:11.85) all earned 1:11\u2019s to take fourth through sixth. In seventh and eighth were <strong>Jordyn Wentzel<\/strong> (1:12.23), and <strong>Emma Lezer<\/strong> (1:13.80).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Men&#8217;s 100m Breaststroke<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We are back at it again with the McHugh brothers taking 1-2 in a breaststroke event! But this time around, <strong>Connor McHugh<\/strong> (1:01.82)\u00a0 out touched his younger brother and 200 Breaststroke winner of the meet, <strong>Maxwell McHugh<\/strong> (1:01.97) by one tenth of a second. Both McHugh brothers qualified for the Olympic trials with their respective times.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Mitchell Hovis<\/strong> of Wyoming took third at 1:02.84, and also qualified for the Olympic trials. Fourth place was <strong>Hayden Zheng<\/strong> (1:03.37) and fifth place was <strong>Garrett Clasen<\/strong> (1:03.74), who both were close to the trials cut of 1:03.29, but just missed it. <strong>Weston Credit<\/strong> (1:04.42), <strong>Caleb Aman<\/strong> (1:04.49), and <strong>Aedan Lewis<\/strong> (1:05.31) completed the top eight of this exciting race.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Women&#8217;s 100m Butterfly<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Tevyn Waddell<\/strong> of The University of Minnesota wins her second event in the of the night in the 100 Butterfly, just shortly after her win in the 200 backstroke earlier in the evening. Waddell won with a 1:00.01, and <strong>Reily Tiltmann<\/strong> came in second with a 1:00.35. <strong>Scarlet Martin<\/strong> clocked in at a 1:00.97, with the 200 Freestyle winner <strong>Hannah Burvill<\/strong> trailing close behind her at 1:01.06. St. Charles Swim Team\u2019s <strong>Mallory Jump<\/strong> (1:01.12) took the sweet fifth spot, followed by <strong>Kelsey Drake<\/strong> (1:01.34), <strong>Ruby Marti<\/strong>n (1:01.52), and <strong>Mckenna Stone<\/strong> (1:02.10).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Men\u2019s 100m Butterfly<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">University of Minnesota\u2019s <strong>Matthew Thomas<\/strong> (54.59) out touched Wisconsin Aquatics <strong>Frank Niziolek<\/strong> (54.69) by a tenth of a second to take the gold in the Men\u2019s 100m Butterfly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Third place went to West\u2019s <strong>Jeffrey Vitek<\/strong> at 54.85, and fourth place went to Wisconsin Aquatics <strong>Kevin Bruan<\/strong> at 55.09. <strong>Michael Linnihan<\/strong> clocked in at 55.19, followed by <strong>Kaiser Neverman<\/strong> (55.67) and <strong>Tyler Klatt<\/strong> (56.38). <strong>Phillip Musser<\/strong> rounded up the top 8 with a 56.59.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 800m Freestyle Relay<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Wisconsin Aquatics<\/strong> showed complete dominance in the event, and crushed the field by over 4 seconds at 8:23.82. <strong>The Fox Valley Swim Team<\/strong> still brought the heat with a time of 3:28.33 to touch second, and out touched the <strong>Elmbrook B Relay<\/strong> at 8:28.74. In third was the <strong>Elmbrook Swim Club<\/strong> at 7:51.49.
