Hood began with a night full of dominant performances.<\/p>\n<p>Many events saw huge time drops and repeat finalists. Winning both relay titles of the night the Denver Hilltoppers currently sit in first place with a combined score of 714.<\/p>\n<p>Many top eight finishers allowed the Tualatin Hills Swim Club to secure a second-place combined team score of 568. Rounding out the top three for the first night of Mt. Hood Sectionals is Elevation Aquatics with a notable 462 combined team points.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Women\u2019s 800 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">20-year-old<\/span><b> Lucia Davis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Bronco Swim Club took this event with a time of 8:47.25,\u00a0 dropping over 12 seconds from her entry time. In a close race for second, <\/span><b>Kathryn Shanley<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, from Foothills Swim Team posted a time of 8:56.94, and <\/span><b>Haley Hill<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Bronco Swim Club followed for third with an 8:57.30. <\/span><b>Allison Bernier<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> touched fourth with 9:01.60, followed by <\/span><b>Sarah McClendon<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 9:01.66, <\/span><b>Millia Ruthven<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 9:01.78, <\/span><b>Mia Rankin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 9:02.98, and <\/span><b>Ryan Falk<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 9:08.74.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Men\u2019s 800 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Kevin Thomas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of King Aquatic Club placed in first with a time of 8:14.78. Second place was <\/span><b>Luke Thornbrue<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 8:23.92, followed by <\/span><b>Ellis Bohon <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of Swim Neptune at 8:24.05 for third.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fourth place was <\/span><b>Rhys Winter<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 8:28.57, followed by <\/span><b>Owen Ngan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 8:30.26, <\/span><b>Jesse Haraden <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at 8:31.53, and <\/span><b>Cooper Kiel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 8:33.86 and close behind for eighth was <\/span><b>Tristan McFarland <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at 8: 33.9.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Women\u2019s 100 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the shortest event of the night, three were under 57 seconds. Winning the event from The Dolphins of Portland was <\/span><b>Kaitlyn <\/b><strong>Doble<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>r<\/strong> with a time of 56.53. Following closely behind was <\/span><b>Elizabeth Cook <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from Tualatin Hills Swim Club posting a 56.81 and <\/span><b>Katharine <\/b><strong>Berko<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>ff<\/strong> from Missoula Aquatic Club at 56.97. <\/span><b>Eleanor Beers <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">almost a second behind the top three at a 57.84, followed by <\/span><b>Jenna Smith at 57.91<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Morgan Brophy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 57.99, <\/span><b>Kathryn Shanley<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 58.27 and <\/span><b>Mackenzie Nedom<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 58.33.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Men\u2019s 100 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of Denver Hilltoppers sprinter <\/span><b>Hugo Sykes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> claimed the title in this event with a time of 51.22, followed closely by <\/span><b>Casper Corbeau<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Tualatin Hills Swim Club. Third place went to <\/span><b>Ethan Luc<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who slammed into the wall with a time of 51.55. Still under 52, in fourth was <\/span><b>Keelan Hart <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a 51.83, fifth was <\/span><b>Darragh Harris<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with a 52.12, following in sixth place was <\/span><b>Harrison Lierz<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who touched at 52.50. Seventh place went to <\/span><b>Kaden Miller<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (52.72) and eight place went to <\/span><b>Cale Berkoff<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (52.34).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Women\u2019s 200 Breast<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Lauren Burckel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from Cougar Aquatics crushed the field in with a 2:30.80 moving up from seventh place which she was seeded at. She was followed by 27-year-old <\/span><b>Sakiko Shimizu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Phoenix Swim Club in second at 2:31.36. <\/span><b>Katherine Adams<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> touched at 2:32.74 for third. <\/span><b>Charlotte Simon <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">touched next at 2:33.48, ahead of <\/span><b>Charity Pittard <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at 2:35.42. 100 free champion <\/span><b>Kaitlyn Dobler <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">had a quick turn around and<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">came in at 2:36.40, <\/span><b>Riley Courtney <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at 2:36.73, and <\/span><b>Jessica Maeda<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 2:39.52.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Men\u2019s 200 Breast<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entered into the meet with a short course time and seeded 89th<\/span><b> Daniel Chang<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> claimed the crown in with a 2:15.20. He was followed by <\/span><b>Harrison Wayner<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Swim Utah touching in second at 2:18.19. <\/span><b>Jacob Hand <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of Charger Aquatics touched at 2:20.51 for third. Closely behind <\/span><strong>Hand<\/strong> was <b>Ryan Foote<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who finished at 2:20.62. <\/span><b>Jack Hoagland <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">touched next at 2:21.63, ahead of <\/span><b>Andrew Carlson <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at 2:22.92. A second behind was <\/span><b>Andrew Britton <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">came in at 2:23.98 and <\/span><b>Harrison Fudge <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at 2:24.70.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Women\u2019s 200 Fly<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">27-year-old from Phoenix Swim Club <\/span><b>Sakiko Shimizu <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">had enough left in the tank from her second-place 200 breast finish to unleash a 2:14.67 claiming the crown. Almost a second behind was 17-year-old <\/span><b>Mikayla Seigal <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from Flatiron Athletics for second with a 2:15.64. Behind the to,p two <strong>Eizabeth Cook<\/strong> who placed second in the 100 free claimed third at 2:19.14. <\/span><b>Katie Higgins<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> placed after at 2:19.23, followed by <\/span><b>Emma Lawless<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:20.92), <\/span><b>Fay Marie Lustria<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:21.59), and <\/span><b>Christina Pick<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:22.28).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Men\u2019s 200 Fly<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Swim Utah lands another finalist and <strong>Cole Giandinoto<\/strong> successfully captured the crown with a time of 2:02.39. <\/span><b>Daniel Matheson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Scottsdale Aquatics also matched his prelims time taking second at 2:04.06. <\/span><b>Essias Smith <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mesa Aquatics closed out the top three with a time of 2:05.11. Next came <\/span><b>Samueal Donchi <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a 2:06.02, <\/span><b>Jared Graham <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a 2:06.35, <\/span><b>Patrick Keough <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a 2:06.51, <\/span><b>Max Kreidl <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a 2:07.17, and <\/span><b>Lukas Miller <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">closing out the top 8 with a 2:07.32.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Women\u2019s 200 Free Relay<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first night of relays ended in a tie for second place. The \u201cA\u201d team from the University of Denver Hilltoppers secured first place with a time of 1:45.89. Tualatin Hills Swim Club and Elevation Aquatics slammed their hands into the wall at the same time and both taking silver with a time of 1:47.51. Following right behind was The Dolphins of Portland who successfully captured bronze posting a time of 1:47.65<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14px;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Men\u2019s 200 Medley Relay<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the men&#8217;s side,\u00a0the Denver Hilltoppers also secured another first-place finish with a solid lead clocking in at 1:32.94. Elevation Aqaitics received another silver following the Hilltoppers with a time of 1:35.80.
