The big theme was close finishes, with many pairs battling it out down to the wire for second, third, or even first place. This session left the Greater Omaha Aquatics Leopard team out ahead with 356 points, but it&#8217;s still anyone&#8217;s meet. The Flyers Aquatic Swim Team trail at 301.5 and the American Energy Swim Club is close behind with 294.5.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 800 Free<\/h3>\n<p>19 year old<strong> Audrey Coffey<\/strong> of Club Huskers took this event with a time of 8:54.98, followed by a close race for second between,\u00a0<strong>Autumn Haebig<\/strong>, also from Club Huskers, and <strong>Jennifer Nusbaum<\/strong> of Kansas Aquatics. Ultimately\u00a0<strong>Haebig<\/strong> came in second with a 8:58.42, while Nusbaum took third with a 8:58.52.\u00a0<strong>Liberty Howell<\/strong> touched fourth with 9:00.04, followed by\u00a0<strong>Peyton Palsha<\/strong> at 9:03.00,\u00a0<strong>Catherine Callahan<\/strong> at 9:05.45,\u00a0<strong>Rachel Powers<\/strong> at 9:06.30, and <strong>Alexis Ljunggren<\/strong> at 9:06.44.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 800 Free<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Antonio Thomas<\/strong> of Missouri State University placed in first with a time of 8:20.49. Second place was\u00a0<strong>Hunter Denison<\/strong> at 8:29.07, followed by a tight race for third between\u00a0<strong>Ryan Baker\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Luke Valley<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Baker\u00a0<\/strong>ended up with the third place spot with a time of 8:32.52, while\u00a0<strong>Valley\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 8:32.92. Fourth place was\u00a0<strong>Alec Enyeart<\/strong> at 8:35.60, followed by\u00a0<strong>Tait Harvey<\/strong> at 8:36.90,\u00a0<strong>Evan Holt\u00a0<\/strong>at 8:37.42, and\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Novinski<\/strong> at 8:39.07.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Free<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Nusbaum<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Howell\u00a0<\/strong>got a chance to show off their sprinting skills here after their 800s in second and third respectively. <strong>Molly Moore<\/strong> of Springfield Aquatics won the event with a 56.99, while <strong>Nusbaum<\/strong> touched at 57.50 and\u00a0<strong>Howell<\/strong> at 57.94.\u00a0<strong>Allie Worrall <\/strong>touched close behind the top three at a 57.99, followed by\u00a0<strong>Alyssa Bloser<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Zoe Thatcher<\/strong> at 58.63,\u00a0<strong>Brady Kendall<\/strong> at 59.01 and\u00a0<strong>Courtney Harris<\/strong> at 59.18.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Free<\/h3>\n<p>Rockwood Swim Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jack Dolan<\/strong> snatched the crown in this event with a time of 51.26, followed closely by\u00a0<strong>Carter Nelson<\/strong> of Flyer&#8217;s Aquatics Swim Team. Third place went to\u00a0<strong>Aleksei Hernandez-Nietling<\/strong> who made it to the wall with a time of 51.85. In fourth was\u00a0<strong>Rush Clark\u00a0<\/strong>with a 52.03, fifth was\u00a0<strong>Eugene Li<\/strong> with a 52.40, just barely out-touching sixth place <strong>Kayde Cross<\/strong> who touched at 52.43. Seventh place went to <b>George Glover <\/b>(52.45) and eight place went to <strong>Daniel Wilson<\/strong> (53.11).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Breast<\/h3>\n<p>Phillips 66 Splash Club&#8217;s <strong>Haley Downey<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Katherine Seward\u00a0<\/strong>were a one two punch in this event.\u00a0<strong>Downey\u00a0<\/strong>touched first at 2:33.49 while her teammate\u00a0<strong>Seward<\/strong> touched at 2:33.90. Meanwhile, the race for third was a tight one between <strong>Aubree Brouwer<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Hanna Newby<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Brouwer\u00a0<\/strong>beat out\u00a0<strong>Newby\u00a0<\/strong>by .06 seconds at 2:34.18 and 2:34.24 respectively. They were followed by\u00a0<strong>Olivia Mendenhall<\/strong> (2:35.14), <strong>Audrey McKinnon<\/strong> (2:36.15), <strong>Victoria Beeler <\/strong>(2:38.69), and <strong>Anne Deedy <\/strong>(2:39.08).<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Breast<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Conner Funke<\/strong> from Greater Omaha Aquatics crushed the field in prelims with a 2:19.77 and he proved just as dominant in finals, posting a 2:19.36. He was followed by\u00a0<strong>Maxwell Boehnlein<\/strong> of Kansas City Blazers in second at 2:21.44.\u00a0<strong>Luke Barr<\/strong> touched at 2:22.11 for third.\u00a0<strong>Christopher Sprenger<\/strong> touched next at 2:22.65, just beating out <strong>Daniel Worth\u00a0<\/strong>at 2:24.69.\u00a0<strong>Barrett Troup<\/strong> came in at 2:25.14,\u00a0<strong>Jay Mercer<\/strong> at 2:26.75, and <strong>Ryan Baker<\/strong> at 2:33.14.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Back<\/h3>\n<p>Another Kansas Aquatics athlete ends up on top in the 200 back. This time it&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Amato-Hanner<\/strong> coming in with a time of 2:16.19. 16 year old\u00a0<strong>Sydney Cole\u00a0<\/strong>from Aquatic Club of Elkhorn swam in behind her for second with a 2:18.42.\u00a0<strong>Cole<\/strong> led\u00a0<strong>Zoe Thatcher\u00a0<\/strong>of Flyer&#8217;s Aquatics Swim team by .4 seconds, as\u00a0<strong>Thatcher<\/strong> posted a 2:18.82. <strong>Jessica Pentlarge<\/strong>\u00a0placed after at 2:19.51, followed by <strong>Mackenzie Bravence<\/strong> (2:21.46), <strong>Eleni Kotzamanis<\/strong> (2:32.22), and <strong>Astrid Dirkzwager<\/strong> (2:25.28).<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Back<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Benjamin Patton<\/strong> from Wichita Swim Club smashed his prelims time by 2.21 seconds to take the top spot in this final at a time of 2:05.41.\u00a0<strong>Mateo Miceli<\/strong> of Sarpy County Swim Club also lowered his prelims time to take second at 2:05.98. <strong>Kevin Glenn<\/strong> followed to close out the top three with a time of 2:06.23. Next came <strong>Cooper Scharff\u00a0<\/strong>with a 2:09.55,\u00a0<strong>Jordan Coffey<\/strong> with a 2:09.85,\u00a0<strong>Brenden Harris\u00a0<\/strong>with a 2:11.85, <strong>Robert Hill\u00a0<\/strong>with a 2:13.09, and\u00a0<strong>Tristen Bowen<\/strong> with a 2:13.12.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Fly<\/h3>\n<p>This race was a nail-biter, with only 1.07 seconds separating first place from eighth. In the final split seconds it came down to Aggie Swim Club&#8217;s <strong>Caroline Theil<\/strong> who surged from her second place prelims finish to win first with a time of 27.49. Second place belongs to the 14 year old <strong>Brady Kendall<\/strong> who touched the wall .03 seconds later at 27.52. <strong>Autumn Looney<\/strong> placed third at 27.64, followed by <strong>Kate McCarville<\/strong> (27.87). Next was <strong>Karisa Franz<\/strong> at 27.95,\u00a0<strong>Tayde Sansores De La Fuent\u00a0<\/strong>at 28.13,\u00a0<strong>Kobie Melton<\/strong> at 28.17, and\u00a0<strong>Greta Olsen<\/strong> at 28.56.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50 Fly<\/h3>\n<p>1.07 seconds was also the small amount of time separating the Men&#8217;s 50 Fly field. The 16 year old <strong>Aiden Hayes<\/strong> of Sooner Swim Club was the winner, clocking in at 24.70. <strong>Micah Chambers<\/strong> was close behind, clocking in second at 24.79. These two were followed by\u00a0<strong>Colin Lafave<\/strong> (24.86), <strong>Jason Schroeder <\/strong>(24.88), <strong>Daniel Wilson <\/strong>(24.96), <strong>Aleksi Hernandez<\/strong> (25.05), <strong>Rush Clark<\/strong> (25.360, and <strong>Benjamin Hines<\/strong> (25.77).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Medley Relay<\/h3>\n<p>The first night of relays ended in a photo finish for second place. The &#8220;A&#8221; team from Springfield Aquatics secured first place with a time of 1:57.43. University of Arkansas Swimming (1:58.11) took the number two spot on the podium while Club Husker and American Energy Swim Club battled it out for third. Ultimately Club Husker touched third with a time of 1:59.34 while American Energy Swim Club swam a 1;59.50. The &#8220;A&#8221; squad from Greater Omaha followed with a 1:59.57, just behind.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Medley Relay<\/h3>\n<p>The Greater Omaha Aquatics Leopard team slid into first place easily with a 1:43.50. Clocking in at 1:44.48 the Sarpy County Swim Club secured second place. Third went to the team from Sooner Swim Club with a time of 1:45.20. The top three were followed by Aquatic Club of Enid Swim Team at 1:46.12, and the Kansas City Blazers team with a 1:46.61.<\/p>\n<p>Day 2 kicks off tomorrow with prelims in the morning at 9 a.m. CST and finals in the evening at 5 p.m. CST.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Haley Wen, Swimming World College Intern.
