{"id":380676,"date":"2019-07-16T09:03:27","date_gmt":"2019-07-16T16:03:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=380676"},"modified":"2019-07-16T09:14:43","modified_gmt":"2019-07-16T16:14:43","slug":"missouri-greg-rhodenbaugh-not-cleared-but-investigation-closed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/missouri-greg-rhodenbaugh-not-cleared-but-investigation-closed\/","title":{"rendered":"University of Missouri: Greg Rhodenbaugh Not &#8216;Cleared&#8217; but Investigation Closed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>University of Missouri<\/strong> is disputing that swimming coach <strong>Greg Rhodenbaugh<\/strong> was cleared of any violations of Title IX.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the university is also claiming that Rhodenbaugh\u2019s press release was \u201cinaccurate and mischaracterized\u201d the Title IX investigation and its findings, notably an assertion that Rhodenbaugh was &#8220;cleared.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Athletic department spokesperson <strong>Nick Joos<\/strong> said that the Title IX office never issued a finding on the investigation, which is closed, according to the <em>Kansas City Star.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The investigation involved <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/missouris-greg-rhodenbaugh-under-title-ix-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">alleged discrimination<\/a> of female swimmers in the program after a complaint brought to the university by one of the swimmers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andrew Grevers<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/missouri-head-coach-greg-rhodenbaugh-placed-on-paid-administrative-leave\/\"><strong>replaced<\/strong><\/a> Rhodenbaugh, who served as Mizzou\u2019s head swimming and diving coach since being named to the position on May 5, 2010, until being placed on administrative leave last October. In accordance with the terms of his contract, Rhodenbaugh was reassigned from his coaching position.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>In an emailed press release sent to news outlets Monday, Rhodenbaugh says the investigation, originally reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/sports\/college\/sec\/university-of-missouri\/article220969365.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow noopener noreferrer\">The Star<\/a>, cleared him of Title IX wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After a comprehensive, nine-month investigation of University of Missouri Head Swimming and Diving Coach Greg Rhodenbaugh for violations of Title IX involving alleged &#8216;team mismanagement&#8217;, the University officially closed the investigation last week without any findings of wrong-doing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Greg Anderson<\/strong>, Rhodenbaugh\u2019s lawyer, said Missouri intentionally took its time with the investigation, which lasted nine months, in order to prevent him from talking to other Division I schools about potential coaching jobs, according to the <em>Star<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Star reports: Anderson said through a spokesperson that while Rhodenbaugh has not filed a lawsuit against the university, \u201che will take the steps necessary to protect his reputation from completely false allegations\u201d.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Missouri is disputing that swimming coach Greg Rhodenbaugh was cleared of any violations of Title IX.
