Anderson earned the silver medal for her first 10K world championship medal, earning her third trip to the Olympics, while Twichell placed sixth and qualified for the Olympics for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s <strong>Xin Xin<\/strong> won the world championship gold medal in the event, swimming a time of 1:54.47.20.<\/p>\n<p>Anderson was next at 1:54.48.10, less than a second away from gold.<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s <strong>Rachele Bruni<\/strong> took the bronze medal in 1:54.49.90.<\/p>\n<p>France\u2019s <strong>Lara Grengeon<\/strong> took fourth in 1:54.50, followed by Brazil\u2019s <strong>Ana Marcela Cunha<\/strong> (1:54.50.50), Twichell (1:54.50.50), Australia\u2019s<strong> Kareena Lee<\/strong> (1:54.50.50), Germany\u2019s<strong> Finnia Wunram<\/strong> (1:54.50.70) and <strong>Leonie Beck<\/strong> (1:54.51.00) and <strong>Sharon Van Rouwendaal<\/strong> (1:54.51.10) of the Netherlands, who rounded out the top 10 and automatic Olympic \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Day 1 of the 2019 FINA World Championships was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2019-fina-world-championships-kristof-razovzky-wins-5k-gold\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">men&#8217;s 5K<\/a> where Hungary\u2019s <strong>Kristof Rasovzky<\/strong> earned the gold medal with a swim of 53.22.10 to finish 10 seconds ahead of the rest of the field by 10 seconds for a dominating victory to open the World Championships on Saturday in Gwangju, South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>France\u2019s <strong>Logan Fontaine<\/strong> finished with the silver in 53:32.10, finishing behind Rasovzky, but holding off the rest of the field.<\/p>\n<p>Canada\u2019s <strong>Eric Hedlin<\/strong> took the bronze medal right on Fontaine\u2019s heels with a swim of 53:32.40.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth place went to<strong> Matej Kozubek<\/strong> of the Czech Republic, who finished in 53;33.60 to finish ahead of Italy\u2019s <strong>Domenico<\/strong> <strong>Acerenza<\/strong> (53:34.00) and Hungary\u2019s <strong>Daniel Szekelyi<\/strong> (53:34.40).<\/p>\n<p>Australia\u2019s<strong> Bailey Armstrong<\/strong> finished seventh in 53;34.80, followed by Russia\u2019s<strong> Kirill Abrosimov<\/strong> (53:35.50), while Australia\u2019s <strong>Hayden Paul Cotter<\/strong> (53:35.50) and Spain\u2019s <strong>Guillem Pujol<\/strong>
