Night three of the 2019 Speedo Sectionals stop in Austin, Texas saw heated battles in the pool, close finishes and nail-biting excitement. Julia Cook<\/strong> of Longhorn Aquatics picked up her second title of the meet, as did\u00a0Drew Kibler.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The events contested were the 100 back, 400 free, 100 fly and 400 free relay. This meet is taking place at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center in Austin, Texas from July 11-14. At the end of the third day of competition, Longhorn Aquatics are comfortably atop the score chart leading by over 60 points.<\/p>\n

    Women’s 100 Back<\/h3>\n

    Longhorns’ Julia Cook<\/strong> won her second title of the meet after taking the 100 free on Thursday, clocking in at 1:02.20. In second place was Felicia Anderson<\/strong> of Southern Methodist who touched the wall at 1:02.93, while unattached Grace Wey<\/strong> won the battle for third in a time of 1:03.24.<\/p>\n

    Emma Carlton<\/strong> grabbed fourth-place honors for the Aggies in a time of 1:03.26, with Longhorn’s\u00a0Kendall Shields<\/strong> (1:03.98) and Aggie’s Samantha Siebenaller<\/strong> (1:04.01) took fifth and sixth place respectively. Unattached swimmer Laura Laderoute<\/strong> finished seventh (1:05.12), and unattached Kathryn Power<\/strong> was disqualified.<\/p>\n

    Men’s 100 Back<\/h3>\n

    William Grant<\/strong>, swimming for Heart of Texas, emerged victorious in a time of 55.09. Winning the battle for second place was Braxton Moore<\/strong> of Longhorn Aquatics clocking in at 55.64, while Elliott Jones<\/strong> of Premier Aquatics was a second back at 56.67 to touch third.<\/p>\n

    In fourth place was Longhorn’s Luke Bowman\u00a0<\/strong>with a time of 57.14, while unattached Nicholas Milikich<\/strong> (57.55) out-touched Eric Stelmar<\/strong> (57.56) of Mansfield Aquatics by 0.01 to nab fifth place. Greyson Alarcon<\/strong> of Nitro Swimming (57.90) and Noah Henry<\/strong> of Tigershark Swim Team (58.75) rounded out the championship final.<\/p>\n

    Women’s 400 Free<\/h3>\n

    13 year old\u00a0Jillian Cox\u00a0<\/strong>of Austin Trinity Aquatic Club dropped almost four seconds to take home the win in a time of 4:16.51. In second place was\u00a0Camryn Toney <\/strong>of Aggie Swim Club (4:17.66) while teammate Karling Hemstreet<\/strong> was also under the 4:20 mark with a time of 4:19.71 to grab third place.<\/p>\n

    Touching fourth was Riley Francis<\/strong> of Lakeside Aquatics with a time of 4:21.74, while teammates Laci Black<\/strong> (4:22.81) and Rebecca Simpson<\/strong> (4:23.38) of Rockwall Aquatics nabbed fifth and sixth place respectively.\u00a0Ella Collins\u00a0<\/strong>of Austin Swim Club finished seventh (4:24.19) and\u00a0Emma Monson<\/strong> of Texas Ford Aquatics (4:25.38) closed out the final.<\/p>\n

    Men’s 400 Free<\/h3>\n

    Swimming unattached,\u00a0Drew Kibler\u00a0<\/strong>picked up his second title of the meet after winning the 200 free yesterday in a time of 3:52.75, almost two seconds ahead of second place finisher Clark Smith <\/strong>of Longhorn Aquatics (3:54.52). Taking third-place honors for North Texas Nadadores was\u00a0David Hallaron<\/strong> who snuck in under four minutes at 3:59.96.<\/p>\n

    David Johnston\u00a0<\/strong>of Rockwall Aquatics finished fourth with a time of 4:02.35, while unattached Alex Zettle<\/strong> nabbed fifth in a time of 4:03.01. Unattached Clark Wakeland<\/strong> came sixth by a narrow margin (4:03.13) while\u00a0Dusan Babic\u00a0<\/strong>of Texas Christian (4:03.55) and Jack Dunworth<\/strong> of Navy Swimming (4:05.54) rounded out the championship final.<\/p>\n

    Women’s 100 Fly<\/h3>\n

    Future Stanford Cardinal\u00a0Lillie Nordmann\u00a0<\/strong>of Magnolia Aquatics dropped almost a second to take home the title in a time of 58.56. Taking runner-up honors for Aggie Swim Club was Sarah Gibson<\/strong> with a time of 59.37 while Longhorn’s Madisyn<\/strong> Cox<\/strong> also went under the minute mark to finish third in 59.59.<\/p>\n

    Aggie’s Taylor Pike\u00a0<\/strong>took fourth place in a time of 1:00.32, narrowly beating out Longhorn’s\u00a0Lauren Case<\/strong> who touched the wall fifth at 1:00.35.\u00a0Olivia Theal\u00a0<\/strong>of Aquastar came sixth (1:01.70), while Austin Swim Club’s Sarah Kutz<\/strong> (1:01.94) and Western Hills’ Emma Wheal<\/strong> (1:02.71) finished seventh and eighth respectively.<\/p>\n

    Men’s 100 Fly<\/h3>\n

    This race was tightly contested with less than a second between all eight finalists. 18 year old Coby Carrozza<\/strong> of Longhorn Aquatics was the only swimmer under 54 to take the title with a time of 53.93. In second place was Grant Reed<\/strong> of the University of Missouri in a time of 54.06, while Bryce Bohman<\/strong> of Pulling Water took third-place honors a tenth back at 54.16.<\/p>\n

    Taking fourth place by 0.02 was Piotr Sadlowski<\/strong> of Texas Christian (54.18), while unattached Alvin Jiang<\/strong> came fifth (54.38). Longhorn’s Jacob Huerta<\/strong> finished sixth (54.68) while Jace Brown<\/strong> of Rockwall Aquatics and Sam Pomajevich<\/strong> of Nation’s Capital tied for seventh (54.86).<\/p>\n

    Women’s 400 Free Relay<\/h3>\n

    Austin Swim Club took the title with their quartet of\u00a0Ella Collins, Rylie Lopez, Kendall Hall\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Isabelle Guerra<\/strong> who touched in a time of 3:54.24. Taking runner-up honors was the team from Magnolia Aquatics while the Western Hills team took third place.<\/p>\n

    Men’s 400 Free Relay<\/h3>\n

    The team from Longhorn Aquatics (Luke Bowman, Will Licon, Jeff Newkirk, Andrew Koustik) <\/strong>won the final event of the evening in a dominant fashion in a time of 3:22.62. The team from Texas Christian came second (3:27.76) while Houston Bridge came in third (3:30.88).<\/p>\n
