GLASGOW, Scotland, September 18. AFTER Swimming World broke news regarding many of the specifics related to this year’s Duel in the Pool, British Swimming is now on record with a few more details about the event.<\/p>\n
The meet scheduled to be held at the Tollcross International Swimming Center, the home of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, in Glasgow, Scotland, will include Olympic silver medalist Michael Jamieson under the European All Star flag in his hometown of Glasgow.<\/p>\n
“I watched Duel in the Pool four years ago when it was in Manchester and it looked like a great event so I’m thrilled to be part of the team this time around,” Jamieson said. “For me it will be special as it’s being held in my home town of Glasgow and it will be a great opportunity to try the newly refurbished pool ahead of the Commonwealth Games next year. There’s no doubt it will be a very tough event as the USA are the strongest nation in world swimming but with an impressive European team and with the backing of a passionate home crowd behind us we hope to push them all the way.”<\/p>\n
British Swimming has also announced the host contingent of British Swimming, Glasgow Life on behalf of Glasgow City Council and EventScotland. These three entities will be working together to pull off an epic event for everyone who attends. <\/p>\n
The meet will take place Dec. 20-21 with nearly $120,000 in prize money up for grabs in the USA vs. European All Stars contest. <\/p>\n
British Swimming also has released an “interest registration” link for those seeking tickets.<\/p>\n
“We are delighted to welcome some of the world’s greatest athletes to Glasgow to again see the best swimmers in Europe compete against the greatest swimming nation in the world, the USA,” British Swimming CEO David Sparkes said. “We look forward to seeing some great swimming with the potential for world records in what we anticipate will be one of the fastest pools in the world.”<\/p>\n
