WE are starting to learn the names of athletes who will participate in this December’s Duel in the Pool in Glasgow, Scotland, at least the names of those who will be part of the European All-Stars team. It should not come as a surprise that Michael Jamieson will take part. He’s one of the best swimmers in the world, and it was a no-brainer that he would want to return to his native Scotland to race in front of a home crowd. Jamieson is currently training in England. No word on whether Hannah Miley, who lives and trains in Scotland, will be a part of the European All-Stars team as well, but it’s a safe bet the IM specialist will be put on the roster soon. Also confirmed is Pal Joensen, who is one of the rising stars in distance freestyle and will likely be returning from the European short course championships in Denmark the week before that. Tickets are not yet on sale for spectators, but you can go to swimming.org to register your interest in purchasing tickets.<\/p>\n
The men’s collegiate water polo season is in full swing this week in the United States, and the University of Southern California is looking to extend their record-breaking streak and win a sixth consecutive national title this fall. The Trojans are ranked first in the coaches’ poll after one week of competition, with last season’s runner up UCLA in second place.
