The 2019 Gainesville Speedo Sectionals kicked off today with the distance session and several relay events today in Gainesville Florida. Hosted by Gator Swim Club, the meet will be held July 11-14 at the Stephan O\u2019Connell Center Pool, found on the University of Florida\u2019s campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 1500 Free<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Sarasota\u2019s <\/span>Emma Weyant <\/b>blew away the competition in the meet\u2019s first event, the women\u2019s 1500 free, with a time of 16:37.65. Weyant had a 20 second drop that brought her home the win finished her 14 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

14-year-old <\/span>Michaela Mattes, <\/b>also from Sarasota, finished second in 16:51.78. Gator\u2019s Georgia Darwent touched the wall for third with a time of 16:58.52.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bolles\u2019 <\/span>Leah Degeorge<\/b> (17:10.89), Sarasota\u2019s <\/span>Christina Cianciolo<\/b> (17:18.72), Swim FL <\/span>Hannah Vandress<\/b> (17:21.30), Loggerhead\u2019s <\/span>Shannon Campbell<\/b> (17.22.04) and Highlander\u2019s<\/span> Alixandra Roy<\/b> (17:22.68) completed the top eight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 800 Free\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Ridgefield\u2019s <\/span>Kieran Smith<\/b> ran away with the win in the 800 free, beating out the next closest in the field by 14 seconds with a time of 8:00.20. Smith had 1:06 second drop.<\/span><\/p>\n

Swimming Unattached, <\/span>Brendan Driscoll<\/b> took second with a time of 8:14.98. Gator\u2019s <\/span>Matthew Anderson <\/b>was right behind him, placing third with a 8:15.19. <\/span>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Saint Petersburg\u2019s <\/span>Caleb Kravitz (8:16.18), <\/b>Unattached <\/span>Drew Clark<\/b> (8:16.26), Unattached <\/span>Alfonso Mestre<\/b> (8:18.58), Unattached <\/span>Yeziel Morales <\/b>(8:23.75), and Area Tallahassee\u2019s <\/span>Stuart Higdon<\/b> (8:26.15) rounded out the top eight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 200 Medley Relay\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Blue Dolfin\u2019s quartet of <\/span>Jaden Herbert, Taylor Grabenhorst, Abigail Gibbons <\/b>and<\/span> Micayla Cronk <\/b>brought home the gold for the first relay event of the meet with a 2-second drop and a time of 1:58.96.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a close second, Gator Swim Club\u2019s <\/span>Lain Shahboz, Juliana Lopez, Georgia Bates <\/b>and<\/span> Talia Bates <\/b>clocked in with a 1:59.29. Planet Swim Aquatics\u2019 <\/span>Sarah Grimm, Emma Grimm, Sara Stotler <\/b>and<\/span> Kathryn Saurborn <\/b>took third with a 2:02.09.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sarasota Sharks (2:02.35), Saint Andrew\u2019s Aquatics (2:02.41), East Coast Aquatic Club (2:02.95), Metro Aquatic Club of Miami (2:03.32), and South Florida Aquatic Club (2:04.01) composed the top eight teams.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 200 Medley Relay\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Gator Swim Club\u2019s <\/span>Trevor McGovern, Hau Weng Cheong, Alec Dawson <\/b>and<\/span> Nicholas Eunice <\/b>took home the win with a 1:46.75 and a time drop of almost a second.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

South Florida Aquatic Club\u2019s <\/span>Lance Lesage, Juan Pablo Pineda, Miguel Sierra <\/b>and <\/span>Rafael Rodriguez <\/b>placed second with a time of 1:48.17. Saint Andrew\u2019s Aquatics\u2019 <\/span>Ethan Roach, Ricardo Martinez, Tiago Pereira <\/b>and<\/span> Maxamillian Zum Tobel <\/b>touched for third in a time of 1:50.56.<\/span><\/p>\n

T2 Aquatics (1:50.64), Metro Aquatic Club of Miami (1:50.75), Tampa Bay Aquatic Club (1:51.39), Blue Dolfins (1:51.55) and Berkeley Aquatics (1:52.24) rounded out the top eight relay teams\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 200 Free Relay<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Blue Dolfins\u2019 <\/span>Micayla Cronk, Isabella Bishop, Julia Mauter <\/b>and <\/span>Abigail Gibbons <\/b>took first in the second relay event of the night with a time of 1:48.01, dropping over two seconds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Blue Dolfins\u2019 <\/span>Megan Hansen, Lockett Bowley, Erika Hirschmann <\/b>and <\/span>Moriah Freitas <\/b>finished right behind their teammates, placing second with a time of 1:48.85. Saint Andrew\u2019s Aquatics quartet of <\/span>Emily Trieschmann, Lucia Miller, Hannah Trieschmann <\/b>and<\/span> Caroline Nordheim <\/b>took third with a 1:49.90.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Also in the top eight were Planet Swim Aquatics (1:50.43), Sarasota Sharks (1:51.35), East Coast Aquatic Club (1:51.51), Hurricane Aquatics (1:52.03), and Gator Swim Club (1:52.15).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 200 Free Relay\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Saint Andrew\u2019s Aquatics\u2019 <\/span>Tiago Pereira, Ricardo Martinez, Ethan Roach <\/b>and<\/span> Maximillian Zum Tobel <\/b>took home the gold with a 1:37.77, a near three-second drop.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Just edged out, Gator Swim Club\u2019s <\/span>Nicholas Eunice, Alec Dawson, Jayden Herron <\/b>and <\/span>Trevor McGovern<\/b> took second with a 1:37.99. Placing third with a 1:38.75 was Metro Aquatic Club of Miami\u2019s <\/span>Adrian Aguilar, Carlos Nava, Andres Wong <\/b>and<\/span> Aaron Rodriguez.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Tampa Bay Aquatic Club (1:39.96), Berkeley Aquatics (1:40.33), South Florida Aquatic Club (1:40.35), T2 Aquatics (1:40.74), and Blue Dolfins (1:40.77) made up the top eight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mixed 200 Medley Relay\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

South Florida Aquatic Club\u2019s <\/span>Lance Lesage, Juan Pablo Pineda, Kathleen Golding <\/b>and <\/span>Paige Lane <\/b>joined forces to win the mixed event with a 1:54.15.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Saint Andrew\u2019s Aquatics\u2019 (A) <\/span>Ricardo Martinez, Lucia Miller, Tiago Pereira <\/b>and<\/span> Hannah Trieschmann <\/b>took second in a 1:56.32. Gator Swim Club\u2019s <\/span>Leah Reisker, Michael Challis, Hannah Ahn <\/b>and <\/span>Dylan Brisco <\/b>placed third with a 1:57.86.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Saint Andrew Aquatics (B) (1:58.49), Swim Florida (1:59.33), Sarasota Sharks (A) (2:00.81), Sky Family YMCA Hurricanes (2:01.23), and Sarasota Sharks (B) (2:04.19) rounded out the top eight teams.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mixed 200 Free Relay\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Closing out the last event of the night, Gator Swim Club\u2019s <\/span>Tomas Peribonio, Juliana Lopez, Julian Hill <\/b>and <\/span>Talia Bates <\/b>won the event by over a second with a time of 1:41.54.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Coming out on top in a close race for second was Saint Andrew\u2019s Aquatics\u2019 (A) <\/span>Ricardo Martinez, Lucia Miller, Ethan Roach <\/b>and<\/span> Hannah Trieschmann <\/b>with a 1:43.01. Berkeley Aquatics\u2019 <\/span>Chloe Grimme, Logan Inegerick, Max Martino, <\/b>and <\/span>Abigail Leisure <\/b>took third with a 1:43.27.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Saint Andrew\u2019s Aquatics (B) (1:46.48), Swim Florida (1:46.92), Sky Family YMCA Hurricanes (1:47.97), South Florida Aquatic Club (1:48.75), and Sarasota Sharks (1:48.80) rounded out the final top eight of the night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
