I visited Hope and I fell in love with everything \u2014 my teammates, coaches, and professors. It was such a great experience. My teammates and coaches at Hope and (Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics) are the reason I even had the opportunity to explore this dream of mine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Some of her MLA teammates already swim for Alabama. She will join <strong>Kyle Maas<\/strong> (West Ottawa), <strong>Derek Maas<\/strong> (West Ottawa) and <strong>Riley VanMeter<\/strong> (Holland Christian) on the Crimson Tide.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>\u201cTo be able to compete for Alabama alongside some of the world&#8217;s elite swimmers is awesome,\u201d Meg Peel said. \u201cI wanted to take advantage of every opportunity given to take my swimming to the next level. I could not be more excited to take on this challenge.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"western\">Peel was Division III <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/division-iii-recap-whitman-women-whitworth-men-win-nwc-titles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke<\/a>, swimming a school-record 1:58.50. She also was an All-American in the 100 back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">\u201cFor me, I felt it was a big stepping stone,\u201d Peel said in March. \u201cI waited for so long. I didn&#8217;t earlier in the season if I was going to be there. In between the MIAA Championships and nationals, we focused on underwater work.
