ANN ARBOR, Michigan, September 20. MICHIGAN head coach Mike Bottom keeps building early momentum with the Class of 2014. This week, he already earned the commitment of blue chip prospect Evan White of Canada. He also just picked up Florida-based recruit Tristan Sanders this week.<\/p>\n
Sanders, who is ranked 77th in the Class of 2014 by CollegeSwimming.com, committed to Michigan earlier this week. <\/p>\n
Sanders is a backstroker with some range into the IMs and sprint frees for his third NCAA event. His top swim ever is a 1:45.41 in the 200-yard backstroke at the 2013 NCSA Junior Nationals this past March. He also has a 49.63 to his credit in the 100-yard back from the 2012 Florida 3A High School Championships to win a state championship.<\/p>\n

Sanders also had some success this summer during long course season, putting up a 56.83 in the 100-meter backstroke as well as a 2:03.04 in the 200-meter backstroke at the 2013 YMCA Long Course Nationals. <\/p>\n
Sanders, the eighth-ranked recruit in the state of Florida, also has some versatile speed with a lifetime best 45.19 in the 100-yard free and a 1:51.45 in the 200-yard IM from the 2013 Florida Spring Championships.<\/p>\n
“I chose The University of Michigan because after being on campus for a short period of time, and after meeting the staff and team, I knew It was the right fit for me,” Sanders posted on CollegeSwimming.com about his commitment. “Michigan is the definition of a perfect balance of outstanding athletics and outstanding academics. I felt I connected with the team very quickly and I instantly liked the staff’s personality and approach on coaching. The coaches are all very intelligent also and can get you where you want to be. The team also has great unity and focus!”<\/p>\n
