MIFFLINBURG, Pennsylvania, September 25. VIRGINIA Tech’s coaching staff certainly has smiles on their faces tonight as Sunbury Branch YMCA’s Adriana Grabski made her commitment to become a Hokie following her senior year.<\/p>\n
Grabski, the 17th-ranked swimmer out of the Class of 2014 by CollegeSwimming.com, is a dynamic freestyle talent that will have an immediate impact on head coach Ned Skinner’s roster.<\/p>\n
Grabski is a YMCA national titlist who has been a dominant force within Pennsylvania swimming. Her top yard times are a 49.57 in the 100-yard freestyle from PIAA States, while her best 200-yard free is a 1:46.93 from the 2013 YMCA Short Course National Championships. <\/p>\n
Grabski’s 100-yard free lifetime best snapped a 15-year-old state record previously held by Georgia assistant coach Stef Williams. Williams, who was on hand to see the swim last March when Grabski set the record while swimming for Mifflinburg High, had posted a 49.61 in 1998.<\/p>\n
Grabski, the fourth-ranked recruit out of the state of Pennsylvania, also has some top-end speed with a 23.03 best in the 50-yard free, and can also extend herself to the 500-yard freestyle distance with a PB of 4:58.45. She’s also put up some strong times in long course meters with a 26.38 in the 50-meter free and a 57.60 in the 100-meter free. <\/p>\n
