USA&#8217;s <strong>Zach Apple<\/strong> and <strong>Tate Jackson<\/strong> will have an exciting battle against Brazil swimmers <strong>Felipe De Souza <\/strong>and <strong>Marco Antonio Ferreira <\/strong>in the men&#8217;s 100 free. <strong>Tayla Lovemore <\/strong>and <strong>Tatjana Rens Schoemnaker <\/strong>of South Africa will also be fighting for gold as they head into finals as the top seed in their respective events.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2019-world-university-games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MEET COVERAGE<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/results.universiade2019napoli.it\/#\/swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LIVE RESULTS<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Men\u2019s 800 Free<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Anton Nikiton<\/strong> got his hand to the wall first in a time of 7:56.65. The top five swimmers all broke 8:00 and it was a tight race for the last two spots on the podium. DeLoof finished in a time of 1:58.46 to win heat 1 shortly before Madden took the lead in heat 2 and finished in a time of 1:59.01.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Mariia Baklakova<\/strong> (1:59.22), Italy&#8217;s <strong>Linda Caponi<\/strong> (1:59.42), and Great Britian&#8217;s <strong>Kathryn Greenslade<\/strong> (1:59.88) all touched under 2:00 and qualified for the finals. Nearly half a second separates the top eight qualifiers heading into the finals.<\/p>\n<p>Russian teammates <strong>Aleksandr Sadovnikov<\/strong> (52.19) and <strong>Egor Kuimov<\/strong> (52.64) along with Japan&#8217;s <strong>Yuya Tanaka<\/strong> (52.26) had great swims from heat 2. Schoemnaker dropped almost a second from her time in the semi finals and was able to bring it home in a 36.22. Finishing in second place was USA\u2019s <\/span><b>Emily Escobedo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:23.65) ahead of Japan\u2019s <\/span><b>Kanako Watanabe <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2:24.18).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kaylene Corbett<\/strong> of South Africa came in fourth (2:24.93) just ahead of Russia&#8217;s<strong> Daria Chikunova<\/strong> (2:25.14).
