GAINESVILLE, Florida, September 28. FLORIDA marched its way to victory in the men’s and women’s team competition at the Pinch a Penny All Florida Invitational, and was led this evening by stars in Corey Main and Sinead Russell. While Elizabeth Beisel stole the limelight last night, Main and Russell certainly put their best foot forward on night two as the Gators rolled to close out the two-day event. <\/p>\n
Florida won the women’s event with 730 points, while the men collected 841 points for the sweep. Full team scores below.<\/p>\n
Russell had her hand in four wins tonight. She opened up with a 25.69 50-yard back leadoff as Russell, Hilda Luthersdottir, Natalie Hinds and Ellese Zalewski took home the 200 medley relay title in 1:41.99. Russell then clipped Beisel in a head-to-head battle in the 200-yard free 1:48.16 to 1:48.54, before beating her senior captain again with a 54.40 to 54.54 triumph in the 100-yard back. Both of the dorsal swims cleared the NCAA provisional standard. The Canadian backstroke star then teamed with Beisel as the backend of Florida’s 800 free relay winning time of 7:19.27 with a1:48.87 third leg before Beisel dropped a 1:50.12 anchor.<\/p>\n
Main also walked away with four titles this evening. He leadoff the men’s 200-yard medley relay with a 22.48 en route to a 1:28.75 for the win. He then edged the NCAA B cut in the 200-yard free with a 1:37.69, before topping Florida State’s Pavel Sankovich, 47.70 to 48.13, in the men’s 100-yard back. Both times, again, under the NCAA B cut. The only difference between Main and Russell proved to be that Main anchored the Florida men’s 800 free relay to victory in 6:32.82 with a 1:36.83. <\/p>\n
