The 2019 World University Games opened its third day of swimming competition from Naples, Italy on Saturday.<\/p>\n

After a few meet records fell on the first<\/a> and second<\/a> days, swimmers looked to keep the momentum rolling with some fast swimming on Day 3.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 200 Fly<\/h2>\n

Russia\u2019s Aleksandr Kudashev<\/strong> got the third day off to a fast start, taking the top seed in the 200 fly in 1:57.30.<\/p>\n

Americans Jack Saunderson<\/strong> (1:57.81) and Trenton Julian<\/strong> (1:57.93) took the next two spots for the semifinals.<\/p>\n

Poland\u2019s Michal Poprawa<\/strong> took the fourth seed in 1:58.13, followed by Japan\u2019s Takumi Terada<\/strong> (1:58.22), Australia\u2019s Bowen Gough<\/strong> (1:58.26) and Italy\u2019s Giacomo Carini (<\/strong>1:58.48) and Christian Ferraro<\/strong> (1:58.48).<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 200 IM<\/h2>\n

Great Britain\u2019s Alicia Wilson<\/strong> edged Ella Eastin<\/strong> for the top seed in the 200 IM.<\/p>\n

Wilson finished in 2:12.69 to finish ahead of Eastin (2:12.85).<\/p>\n

Britain\u2019s Abbie Wood<\/strong> took the third seed for today\u2019s semifinals with a time of 2:13.59 to finish ahead of American Genevieve Pfeifer<\/strong> (2:13.89).<\/p>\n

Japan\u2019s Runa Imai<\/strong> took the fifth seed (2:14.66), followed by Catalina Corro Lorente<\/strong> (2:14.86), Italy\u2019s Ilaria Cusinato<\/strong> (2:14.96) and France\u2019s Cyrielle Duhamel<\/strong> (2:15.45).<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 200 Breast<\/h2>\n

Russia\u2019s Kirill Prigoda<\/strong> continued his strong meet by taking the top seed in the 200 breast. He finished in 2:09.99, the only swimmer in the field to break 2:10.<\/p>\n

American Daniel Roy<\/strong> took the second seed in today\u2019s semifinals with a time of 2:10.28.<\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s Ilia Khomenko<\/strong> took the third seed (2:11.14), followed by American Jonathan Tybur<\/strong> (2:12.25), Lithuania\u2019s Andrius Sidlauskas<\/strong> (2:12.53), Switzerland\u2019s Jacques Lauffer<\/strong> (2:12.70), Britain\u2019s Craig Benson<\/strong> (2:12.91) and Hungary\u2019s Mate Kutasi<\/strong> (2:12.91).<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 100 Back<\/h2>\n

The U.S. took the top two seeds in the 100 back heading into semifinals.<\/p>\n

Elise Haan<\/strong> took the top seed in the event in 1:00.51 to hold off Katharine Berkhoff<\/strong> (1:00.67).<\/p>\n

Canada took the next two stops as Kennedy Goss<\/strong> took the third seed in 1:00.96 as Ingrid Wilm<\/strong> (1:00.96) matched her time.<\/p>\n

Japan\u2019s Marina Furubayashi<\/strong> took the fifth seed in 1:01.04, followed by Italy\u2019s Silvia Scalia<\/strong> (1:01.29), matched by Hong Kong\u2019s Toto Wong<\/strong> (1:01.29).<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 50 Back<\/h2>\n

South Africa\u2019s Zane Waddell<\/strong> took the top seed in the 50 back, finishing in 25.54 to hold off American Justin Ress<\/strong> (24.57).<\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s Grigory Tarasevich<\/strong> took the third seed in 24.91, followed by Brazil\u2019s Gabriel Fantoni<\/strong> (25.00), Russia\u2019s Mark<\/strong> Nikolaev<\/strong> (25.20), Australia\u2019s William Yang (<\/strong>25.21), Belarus\u2019 Viktar Staselovich (<\/strong>25.27) and Italy\u2019s Niccolo Bonacchi<\/strong> (25.29).<\/p>\n
