During the first two days of the meet USA leads the medal count after <strong>Ian Finnerty<\/strong> reset his own meet record in the men&#8217;s 100 breast and <strong>Lisa Bratton<\/strong> lowered the meet record in the women&#8217;s 200 back. <strong>Zane Waddell<\/strong> set a meet record and <strong>Zach Apple<\/strong> also claimed victory on the third day.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2019-world-university-games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MEET COVERAGE<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/results.universiade2019napoli.it\/#\/swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LIVE RESULTS<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 1500 Free<\/h2>\n<p>Sweden&#8217;s <strong>Victor Johansson<\/strong> gained control of the race about halfway through to finish first in a time of 15:01.76. In a close battle for second, Italy&#8217;s <strong>Alessio Occhipinti <\/strong>(15:07.36) touched ahead of USA&#8217;s <strong>Nick Norman<\/strong> (15:09.29) and Spain&#8217;s <strong>Albert Escrits Manosa\u00a0<\/strong>(15:10.78).<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s <strong>Matteo Lamberti<\/strong> came in fifth (15:18.60) just ahead of Japan&#8217;s <strong>Atsuya Yoshida <\/strong>(15:19.65). In heat 2, Russia&#8217;s <strong>Kirrill Prigoda<\/strong> was able to improve his time from the prelims and take the top seed heading into the finals with a time of 2:09.16. Russia&#8217;s <strong>Illia Khomenko<\/strong> also qualified for the finals and is seeded third in a time of 2:11.28 ahead of Switzerland&#8217;s <strong>Jacques Lauffer<\/strong> (2:11.46). Japan&#8217;s <strong>Runa Imai <\/strong>tied with Corro Lorente&#8217;s time from the previous heat which places them both fourth seed going into the finals. Apple finished in a time of 1:46.80, as he was able to hold of Snegirev (1:46.97). Italian teammates <strong>Stefano Di Cola<\/strong> (1:47.86) and <strong>Matteo Ciampi<\/strong> (1:48.06) finished third and fourth in the finals.<\/p>\n<p>Korea&#8217;s <strong>Jaehoon Yang<\/strong> was just out touched finishing in a time of 1:48.07. Japan teammates <strong>Mai Fukasawa<\/strong> (1:07.22) and <strong>Kanako Watanabe\u00a0<\/strong>(1:07.28) claimed the last two spots on the podium as they finished second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth place went to Austria&#8217;s <strong>Chelsea Hodges<\/strong> (1:07.58) who touched ahead of Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Sarah Marie Vasey\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.02). Japan&#8217;s <strong>Nao Horomura<\/strong> finished second in the heat in a time of 1:57.08. Italy&#8217;s <strong>Giacomo Carini<\/strong> and Austria&#8217;s <strong>Bowen Gough<\/strong> finish third and fourth in the heat. Germany&#8217;s <strong>Lisa Hoepink\u00a0<\/strong>touched second (55:04) just ahead of USA&#8217;s <strong>Veronica Burchill\u00a0<\/strong>(55:05).<\/p>\n<p>Nearly half a second behind the top 3 finishers were Italy&#8217;s <strong>Paola Biagioli<\/strong> (55.51), Russia&#8217;s <strong>Elizaveta Klevanovich<\/strong> (55.58), and Germany&#8217;s<strong> Jessica Felsner<\/strong> (55.63). Taiwan&#8217;s <strong>Wang Hsing-Hao<\/strong> was able to sneak under 2:00 to touch third (1:59.87).<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s <strong>Tomoya Takeuchi<\/strong> finished fourth (2:00.34) with the same time from semi finals ahead of France&#8217;s <strong>Samy Helmbacher<\/strong> (2:00.70) and Hungary&#8217;s<strong> Daniel Sos<\/strong> (2:00.72). USA&#8217;s<strong> Elise Haan<\/strong> is now seeded third (1:00.31) going into tomorrow&#8217;s final.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s <strong>Kennedy Goss<\/strong> finished fourth (1:00.43) in the semi finals ahead of her teammate <strong>Ingrid Wilm<\/strong> (1:00.55). The new record set by Ress (24.52) only stood for a few minutes until Waddell swam a new meet record of 24.46 in heat 2 of the semi finals.<\/p>\n<p>Russia teammates <strong>Grigory Tarasevich<\/strong> (24.64) and <strong>Mark Nikolaev<\/strong> (25.00) qualify third and fourth seed for the finals just ahead of Brazil&#8217;s <strong>Gabriel Fantoni<\/strong> (25.03) and Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Bence Szentes\u00a0<\/strong>(25.05).
