The 2019 World University Games opened its second day of swimming competition from Naples, Italy on Friday.<\/p>\n

After a few meet records fell on the first day, swimmers looked to keep the momentum rolling with some fast swimming on Day 2.<\/p>\n

The day started with the men\u2019s 200 free, followed by the women\u2019s 100 breast, men\u2019s 200 IM, women\u2019s 100 free and the men\u2019s 1500 free.<\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s Aleksandr Fedorov<\/strong> cruised to the top seed in the 200 free, finishing in 1:48.70.<\/p>\n

Americans Robert Freeman III<\/strong> (1:49.03) and Zach Apple (1:49.07) took the second and third seeds, respectively.<\/p>\n

South Korea\u2019s Jaehoon Yan<\/strong>g took the fourth spot in today\u2019s semifinal in 1:49.08, followed by Russia\u2019s Nikolay Snegirev<\/strong> (1:49.23), Italy\u2019s Matteo Ciampi<\/strong> (1:49.57), France\u2019s Remi Meresse<\/strong> (1:49.77) and Poland\u2019s Filip Zaborowski<\/strong> (1:49.78).<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 100 Breast<\/h2>\n

South Africa\u2019s Tatjana Shoemaker<\/strong> claimed the top seed in the 100 breast, going a 1:07.12.<\/p>\n

She was one of two swimmers to break 1:08 in the field as Australia\u2019s Chelsea Hodges<\/strong> finished in 1:07.85 to take the second seed for the semifinals.<\/p>\n

Japan\u2019s Kanako Watanabe<\/strong> took the third seed in 1:08.41, followed by Brazil\u2019s Jhennifer Alves<\/strong> (1:08.62), Britain\u2019s Sarah<\/strong> Vasey<\/strong> (1:08.64), American Emily Weiss<\/strong> (1:08.73), Russia\u2019s Daria Chikunova<\/strong> (1:08.81), Japan\u2019s Mai Fukasawa<\/strong> (1:08.88) and American Jorie Caneta<\/strong> (1:08.94).<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 200 IM<\/h2>\n

Britain\u2019s Joe Litchfield<\/strong> earned the top seed in the 200 IM, finishing his prelim head in 2:00.53.<\/p>\n

Japan\u2019s Tomoya Takeuchi<\/strong> took the second seed in 2:00.70 ahead of Italy\u2019s Alberto Razzetti<\/strong> (2:00.86) to qualify for the semifinals.<\/p>\n

Hungary\u2019s Daniel Sos<\/strong> took the fourth seed in 2:01.06, followed by Maxim Stupin<\/strong> (2:01.11), Japan\u2019s Juran Mizohata<\/strong> (2:01.13), Britain\u2019s Mark Szaranek<\/strong> (2:01.13) and France\u2019s Samy Helmbacher<\/strong> (2:01.15).<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 100 Free<\/h2>\n

Germany\u2019s Lisa Hopnik<\/strong> held off a pair of Americans to take the top seed in the 100 free. She finished in 55.07.<\/p>\n

Gabby DeLoof<\/strong> took the second seed in 55.39, just ahead of compatriot Veronica Burchill<\/strong> (55.47).<\/p>\n

Germany\u2019s Jessica Felspar<\/strong> was fourth (55.70), followed by Russia\u2019s Elizaveta Klevanovich<\/strong> (55.77), Australia\u2019s Julia<\/strong> Hawkins<\/strong> (56.12), Japan\u2019s Aki Nishizu<\/strong> (56.340) and South Africa\u2019s Tayla Lovemore<\/strong> (56.32).<\/p>\n
