Swimming superstars\u00a0Adam Peaty\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Cate Campbell\u00a0<\/strong>will be headlining the London Roar team out of the newly minted International Swimming League<\/a>. The team features some of the best swimmers from Australia and Europe.<\/p>\n

1984 Olympic bronze medalist Rob Woodhouse <\/strong>is the general manager of the team and will have a strong team of 30 athletes from Australia, Europe and Canada. Olympic gold medalists Mireia Belmonte<\/strong>,\u00a0Kyle Chalmers\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Emma McKeon\u00a0<\/strong>are also on the team that will start competing in the new ISL this fall<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I’m really excited to be joining the ISL. As a new grad and professional athlete, the timing couldn’t be better for me,” said Brazil’s\u00a0Vini Lanza in a press conference held by the ISL on Tuesday. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

“I’m really encouraged by everyone, my fellow partners in London Roar, and my competitors, to train really hard and to compete at the highest level. With only seven matches in the fall, there’s no time to break. We all got to be ready to take the challenge on and I’m so proud and excited to be joining a roster that has so many great athletes.”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Woodhouse noted in the press conference Tuesday that he wanted to pick up swimmers like Lanza and Sydney Pickrem<\/strong>, who have the valuable experience of swimming in a team-based atmosphere. Lanza and Pickrem both finished their careers at Indiana and Texas A&M respectively and will be important assets for the London-based team.<\/p>\n

London Roar is one of eight clubs that will compete in the ISL this fall. They will start competing October 18 in Lewisville, Texas. The team will be swimming in that event with the LA Current<\/a>, New York Breakers<\/a>, and Team Iron<\/a>. The competition schedule can be viewed here<\/a>. The season will culminate in December at a custom-built pool in the heart of Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.<\/p>\n

Our team is made <\/strong><\/span>up of swimmers from ten different countries and includes Olympic, World and NCAA <\/strong><\/span>Champions. We hope to see all the London Roar fans at the derby match on November 23-<\/strong><\/span>24.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
