{"id":375027,"date":"2019-06-13T18:57:01","date_gmt":"2019-06-14T01:57:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=375027"},"modified":"2019-06-13T19:01:02","modified_gmt":"2019-06-14T02:01:02","slug":"2019-charlotte-ultra-meet-first-round-of-50-shoot-outs-highlight-night-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2019-charlotte-ultra-meet-first-round-of-50-shoot-outs-highlight-night-one\/","title":{"rendered":"2019 Charlotte Ultra Meet: First Round Of 50 Shoot-Outs Highlight Night One"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2019 Charlotte Ultra Meet (formerly known as the Charlotte Ultraswim) kicks off tonight at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club, hosted by SwimMAC, with finals of the women\u2019s 800 free and men\u2019s 1500 free along with prelims of the 50 shootouts. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2019-charlotte-ultra-psych-sheet-day-4-usa-age-group-2019-06-13.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PSYCH SHEET<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmaccarolina.org\/ultra\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MEET HOMEPAGE<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With top seed\u00a0<strong>Hannah Moore\u00a0<\/strong>not swimming, the field was wide open in the women&#8217;s 800 free to open the meet.\u00a0<strong>Eleanore Marquardt\u00a0<\/strong>took advantage of the open field to finish first with a huge PB of 8:52.98, dropping 20 seconds from her seed. She was followed closely by\u00a0<strong>Emma Seiberlich<\/strong>, who dropped over a minute from her seed to finish second in 8:55.20.<\/p>\n<p>Georgia&#8217;s <strong>Kevin Miller <\/strong>won the men&#8217;s 1500 free in 15:32.38, just under four seconds off of his second seeded time coming into the meet. He was a good 10 seconds ahead of the field, with\u00a0<strong>Eric Knowles\u00a0<\/strong>back in second in 15:44.08.<\/p>\n<p>The session also features the first rounds of the 50-meter shootouts.\u00a0<strong>Kylee Alons\u00a0<\/strong>(27.15) and\u00a0<strong>Jack Conger\u00a0<\/strong>(24.20) led all swimmers through the 50 fly, and Alons was back again in the 50 back to take the top spot out of the first round in 28.45. <strong>Coleman Stewart\u00a0<\/strong>put up a strong 25.67 to lead the men&#8217;s 50 backstroke as the only swimmer under 26 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jacalyn Schoening\u00a0<\/strong>(32.38) and\u00a0<strong>Nic Eriksson\u00a0<\/strong>(28.71) were top qualifiers in the women&#8217;s and men&#8217;s 50 breast, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 50 free heat was tight, with\u00a0<strong>Maxine Parker\u00a0<\/strong>ultimately ending up with the top seed in 25.41. Just behind her was NC State&#8217;s <strong>Ky-lee Perry\u00a0<\/strong>(25.43),\u00a0<strong>Madison Kennedy\u00a0<\/strong>(25.57), and\u00a0<strong>Katherine Douglass\u00a0<\/strong>(25.68).\u00a0Alons was also back in the water again, also finishing under 26 seconds with a 25.93 to tie with\u00a0<strong>Bridget Semenuk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Jack Conger was back in the water for the men&#8217;s 50 to take the top seed by more than half a second in 22.95.
