He joins newly-hired diving coach<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/landon-marzullo-hired-as-wisconsin-diving-coach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <strong>Landon Marzullo<\/strong><\/a> and returning assistants <strong>Kristy Brager<\/strong>, <strong>Jennah Haney<\/strong> and <strong>Erik Posegay<\/strong> in rounding out the staff for Suguiyama\u2019s second season at the helm of the Badgers program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been following Trevor\u2019s career for a while now and we\u2019re thrilled to add him to our staff,\u201d Suguiyama said. \u201cIn just a short time he\u2019s been able to work with and impact some really elite-level athletes. His passion, expertise and care for student-athletes and their experience are perfectly in-tune with what our program at Wisconsin is all about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maida spent the 2018-19 season as a volunteer assistant coach at Indiana. While in Bloomington, he helped the Hoosiers sweep the men\u2019s and women\u2019s Big Ten titles for the first time in school history. While at Indiana, Maida had the opportunity to coach Olympic gold medalist and world record-holder <strong>Lilly King<\/strong>, who won her fourth straight NCAA titles in both the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/lilly-king-clean-sweeps-100-breast-ncaa-titles-with-new-american-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">100-<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/lilly-king-becomes-first-woman-to-win-eight-breaststroke-titles-with-200-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">200-yard breaststroke<\/a>. He also worked with American record-holder <strong>Ian Finnerty<\/strong>, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ian-finnerty-breaks-50-for-second-time-wins-100-breast-ncaa-title-for-hoosiers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">repeated as NCAA champion<\/a> in the men\u2019s 100 breaststroke and swept the Big Ten breaststroke titles.<\/p>\n<p>Maida also assisted in the Hoosiers\u2019 recruiting efforts and served as the program\u2019s social media director.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to Indiana, Maida began his collegiate coaching career by spending two and a half seasons as a student assistant at his alma mater St. Bonaventure. After an injury effectively ended his career as a swimmer during his freshman year, Maida transitioned to the deck and served as the Bonnies\u2019 primary distance coach while also assisting head coach <strong>Sean McNamee<\/strong> in a variety of roles ranging from scheduling to recruiting.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>\u201cI couldn\u2019t be more excited and grateful for the opportunity to work with Yuri, the staff and the student-athletes at the University of Wisconsin,\u201d Maida said. \u201cThe Badgers are an outstanding team with an environment that is built to produce at an elite level.
