{"id":374492,"date":"2019-06-11T00:27:12","date_gmt":"2019-06-11T07:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=374492"},"modified":"2019-06-12T14:26:27","modified_gmt":"2019-06-12T21:26:27","slug":"emma-mckeon-surges-to-no-2-in-world-in-200-free-at-2019-australian-world-swimming-trials-day-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/emma-mckeon-surges-to-no-2-in-world-in-200-free-at-2019-australian-world-swimming-trials-day-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Emma McKeon Surges to No. 2 in World in 200 Free at 2019 Australian World Swimming Trials Day 3 (RACE VIDEO)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2019 Australian World Swimming Trials kicked off its third day of competition with the women&#8217;s 200 free, men&#8217;s 200 fly and the men&#8217;s 800 free for the finals session, as swimmer from Down Under continue to battle for spots on the World\u2019s roster, led by <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>With two nights in the books, Aussie athletes have already proven themselves to be threats in international competition, as they prime the swim community for next month\u2019s World Championships in South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>During the Day 3 prelims, McKeon claimed second-fastest time in the world this year in the 200 free.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/liveresults.swimming.org.au\/SAL\/2019TRI_021365\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live Results of 2019 Australian World Swimming Trials<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2019-australian-world-swimming-trials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Swimming World\u2019s Australian World Trials Page<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Women\u2019s 200 Free<\/h2>\n<p>The showdown in the 200 free between <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> and <strong>Ariarne Titmus<\/strong> was one of the most anticipated races of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>It did not disappoint as McKeon turned in the second-fastest swim in the world this year.<\/p>\n<p>McKeon used a fast start before hanging on to win the race in 1:54.55. Titmus was second in 1:55.09. Morgan is the fifth-fastest performer in the world this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fxg4BESZcXs\" width=\"560\"
