LOS ANGELES, California, January 10. BEHIND multiple 1-2-3 finishes and wins in seven of 12 events, the University of Southern California women’s swimming and diving team proved too much for the University of Utah to handle on Friday, as the Trojans came out on top, 119-91.<\/p>\n

With an all-around team performance, the Women of Troy defeated Utah in Pac-12 dual meet action at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center on Friday (Jan. 10).<\/p>\n
The women improve to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in the Pac-12 with a 119-91 victory over Utah.<\/p>\n
The Trojans won seven of 12 swimming events, including the 400y medley relay with a time of 3:41.75.<\/p>\n
Senior Meghan Hawthorne won the 1000y free with a time of 9:52.99. The Trojans swept that race with senior Lynette Lim coming in second (10:04.29) and sophomore Nikki Chang finishing third (10:09.61).<\/p>\n
Senior Stina Gardell earned a new season best in the 200y freestyle as she took first (1:48.47), while sophomore Joanna Stenkvist and freshman Lexie Malazdrewicz rounded out the top three for another Trojan sweep.<\/p>\n
The Trojans third sweep of the day came in the 50y freestyle, as senior Kasey Carlson took first with a time of 22.82. Sophomore Kasia Wilk and freshman Evan Swenson finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n
In the 200y IM, redshirt junior Andrea Kroop came through with the Trojans fourth individual event first place finish of the day with a time of 2:04.54.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Jasmine Tosky led a Trojan sweep in the 200y butterfly with a time of 1:59.13, while Wilk took the 100y freestyle (2:04.55).<\/p>\n
In 1m diving, redshirt junior Haley Ishimatsu led the Trojans with a final score of 590.90.<\/p>\n
The Women of Troy are back in action Saturday, Jan. 11 at noon, as they take on Wisconsin in a dual meet. The Trojan men will also be in action against the Badgers at noon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
