He finished sixth in the 100 fly and 15th in the 200 fly at Juniors West in December after earning gold in the former at NCSAs this past summer.<\/p>\n<p>Also competing for La Canada High School, Syrkin is a six-time CIF Central DII Sectional Championship finalist and has earned both NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors.\u00a0He earned gold in the 100 fly and 50 free at the sectional meet during both his sophomore and junior seasons before going on to place second and third, respectively, in those events at the CIF State Championships last month.<\/p>\n<p>He told\u00a0<em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #c21010;\"><strong>&#8220;I\u2019m very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at USC! I\u2019d like to thank my family, coaches, and teammates for supporting me along the way. I\u2019m super proud to carry on my family\u2019s Trojan legacy and can\u2019t wait to join the team. FIGHT ON!!!&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>His best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 fly &#8211; 46.63<\/li>\n<li>200 fly &#8211; 1:45.63<\/li>\n<li>200 IM &#8211; 1:50.69<\/li>\n<li>50 free &#8211; 20.32<\/li>\n<li>100 free &#8211; 44.65<\/li>\n<li>100 back &#8211; 48.87<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Syrkin will make an immediate impact in the Trojans&#8217; fly group, as his best times already would rank near the top of their lineup this past season.
