DESPITE missing several of their top swimmers, including Breeja Larson, Cammile Adams and Sarah Henry, who are competing for the US at the Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool, and Erica Dittmer and Lili Ibanez, who are competing at the Mexican National Championships, the Texas A&M women’s swimming and diving team had no trouble handling Rice University on Friday night, topping the Owls by a score of 158.96. <\/p>\n
A&M opened the meet with a sweep of the top three spots in the 200 medley relay, with Paige Miller, Sycerika McMahon, Emily Neubert and Sammie Bosma leading the way in 1:41.64. Colleen Konetzke picked up a win in the first individual event, touching first in the 1000 free in 10:09.21. <\/p>\n
Texas A&M swept the top three spots in the next three events, as Meredith Oliver posted the top time in the 200 free (1:48.89) and Paige Miller got to the wall first in the 100 back (53.90). Freshman Sycerika McMahon topped the women’s 100 breast in 1:02.65, just ahead of teammate Ashley McGregor (1:03.07). <\/p>\n
In the 200 fly, Caroline McElhany pulled away from Rice’s Casey Clark on the second 100 to take the win in 1:59.44, while Clark touched second in 2:01.28. Sammie Bosma then swept the sprint freestyle events for the Aggies, with a 23.08 in the 50 and a 50.03 in the 100. <\/p>\n
The Aggies continued their domination of the dual with wins by Claire Brandt in the 200 back (1:59.51), Ashley McGregor in the 200 breast (2:15.03) and Paige Miller in the 100 fly (54.37). Sycerika McMahon also swept the 500 free (4:56.88) and 200 IM (2:02.94). <\/p>\n
