PHOENIX, Arizona, December 18. SEVERAL athletes are closing out the fall portion of the 2013-2014 collegiate swimming and diving season with more honors from their respective conferences.<\/p>\n
Conference USA
\nFemale Swimmer of the Week: Sonia Perez, Florida International
\nPerez won both individual medley events at the Nova Southeastern Invitational, posting a 2:05.51 in the 200 IM and 4:20.58 in the 400 IM. She also placed second in the 200 back and was third in the 200, 500, 1000 and 1650 freestyles.<\/p>\n
Mid-American Conference
\nMale Athlete of the Week: Paul Le, Missouri State
\nThough not his fastest swims of the season, Le still had standout performances at the Oklahoma Splash Bash, winning both backstrokes (47.96, 1:45.61) and the 50 free (20.33).<\/p>\n
Pac-12
\nMale Swimmer of the Month: Kevin Cordes, Arizona
\nWith the Pac-12 only honoring swimmers and divers once a month, Cordes is being honored for his performances in November, going undefeated in the breaststroke events in the three dual meets he swam in that month.<\/p>\n
Female Swimmer of the Month: Felicia Lee, Stanford
\nLee has been impressive in her senior year at Stanford, winning a variety of events in dual meet competition. But her most celebrated meet was the Art Adamson Invitational just before the Thanksgiving holiday, where she was a part of all five winning relays. She also broke her school record in the 100 back with a 51.46 and also posted a 1:53.36 in the 200 back for two NCAA automatic qualifying times.<\/p>\n
Male Diver of the Month: Rafael Quintero, Arizona
\nQuintero has been a strong presence in diving for the Wildcats, winning the 1-meter and platform diving events at the Wildcat Diving Invitational and scoring big points on the springboards in November dual meets.<\/p>\n
Female Diver of the Month: Annika Lenz, UCLA
\nThe Bruin freshman had a strong collegiate debut, going 4-for-4 in dual meet competition before placing third on the 3-meter springboard at the Wildcat Diving Invite.<\/p>\n
Patriot League
\nMale Swimmer of the Week: Hugh Davison, Navy
\nIn the annual Army-Navy swim meet that takes place a couple of days before the big football rivalry, Davison won the 100 and 200 freestyles, posting a conference and school record time of 1:36.00 in the 200. He also swam a 44.26 to clearly take the 100 free.<\/p>\n
Female Swimmer of the Week: Charlotte Meyer, Navy
\nMeyer won three individual events against Army, including setting a school record in the 200 back with a 1:58.08. She also won the 200 free (1:49.26) and 200 IM (2:01.80).<\/p>\n
Male Diver of the Week: Ben Freedman, Navy
\nFreedman swept the diving events against Army, qualifying for the NCAA zone championship meet in the process. He earned 316.50 points on the 1-meter and 326.55 points on 3-meter.<\/p>\n
Female Diver of the Week: Julie Jesse, Navy
\nLike Freedman, Jesse also completed a sweep of the diving events against Army. Her win in the 3-meter event was a first for Jesse, and she repeated as champion on the 1-meter springboard.<\/p>\n
Summit League
\nFemale Swimmer of the Week: Morgan Stepp, Omaha
\nIn the dual meet against South Dakota, Stepp won the 500 free (5:12.97), 1000 free (10: 40.18) and 200 IM (2:10.38).<\/p>\n
Female Diver of the Week: Greyson Hertting, South Dakota
\nThis marks Hertting’s sixth weekly honor from the Summit League, this one earned after she swept the diving events at the dual meet against Omaha. Though she did not post season-best scores in either event, she still dominated the meet, beating opponents by an average of 55 points.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
