Division I Women
\nCharlotte Meyer (Bethesda, Maryland), a Naval Academy freshman is the Counsilman Hunsaker CollegeSwimming.com Division I Women’s Swimmer of the Week. The freshman won a trio of individual events during Navy’s 214-86 win over Army on Dec. 12, which was Navy’s 25th straight win in the series. That is the longest winning streak by any team in any sport in Army-Navy series history. Meyer won the 200 free (by 0.05) with a time of 1:49.13 and broke the Army-Navy meet record of 1:49.26) set by Navy’s Tara Chapmon (12\/4\/08). She also won the 200 backstroke (by 0.56) with a time of 1:58.08, breaking the Army-Navy meet record of 1:58.67 set by Navy’s Kellie Darmody (12\/8\/11), and the Navy team record of 1:58.48 set by Lauren Baguley (2\/23\/13) with an NCAA B cut time. In her final individual she won the 200 IM (by 2.15) with a time of 2:01.80 while posting the No. 7 time in Navy history.<\/p>\n
Division I Men
\nThe Counsilman Hunsaker CollegeSwimming.com Men’s Division I Swimmer of the Week is Naval Academy senior Hugh Davison (Towson, MD). Davison was part of three wins during Navy’s 196-104 victory over Army on Dec. 12, which was Navy’s 23rd straight win in the series. That is the second longest winning streak by any team in any sport in Army-Navy series history. Davison won the 200 free (by 0.46) in a time of 1:36.00, breaking the Army-Navy meet, Navy team, and Patriot League record of 1:37.18 set by Mac Anthony (12\/9\/10) while posting an NCAA B cut time. He also won the 100 free (by 0.14) in a time of 44.26 breaking another Army-Navy meet record, 44.76 set by Navy’s Zach Ingold (12\/6\/12) with an NCAA B cut time. Finally he swam the anchor leg on Navy’s victorious 400 free relay team. The foursome combined for a time of 2:58.45 (to win by 2.78), which broke the Army-Navy meet record of 2:58.62 set by Navy (12\/9\/10) and was the No. 5 time in Navy history. He swam a 43.95 on the anchor leg, and his clocking was the fastest anchor leg by 1.00 second, and the fastest overall leg of the race by 0.61 seconds. He became just the third men’s swimmer, and the first since the 1966-67 season, to win both the 100 free and 200 free in the same Army-Navy meet.<\/p>\n
Division II Women
\nThe Counsilman Hunsaker Women’s Division II Swimmer of the Week is Fresno Pacific Sunbirds junior Kendall Swanson(Los Osos, CA). The Junior had an impressive outing, finishing first at the Collegiate Winter Invitational in the 100 and 200 breaststroke (1:03.02, 2:18.25), while adding a third place finish and new school record in the 100 fly (57.19). Her breaststroke times should be good enough for the 3rd and 20th best times in Division II so far this year respectively.<\/p>\n
Division II Men
\nFresno Pacific University sophomore Wesley Coles (Lindsay CA), was a three event winner for the Sunbirds at the Collegiate Winter Invitational. Coles won the 200 (1:41.29), 500 (4:38.12), and 1650 free (16:01.49) while also placing second in the 200 fly (1:51.43). His outstanding performances have earned him the Counsilman Hunsaker CollegeSwimming.com Division II Men’s Swimmer of the Week.<\/p>\n
Division III Women
\nMontclair State University sophomore Sydney Stein (Reistertown, Md), is the Women’s Division III Counsilman Hunsaker CollegeSwimming.com Swimmer of the week. In tri-meet action against Manhattan College and St. Peter’s University, Stein posted impressive finishes in the 500, finishing 2nd (5:31.62), and 1000 free finishing 3rd (11:22.21). Stein also completed in the 50 free with a time of 27.17, a season best.<\/p>\n
Division III Men
\nUniversity of Redlands junior Jeff Depew (Naperville, IL) is the Counsilman Hunsaker CollegeSwimming.com Division III Men’s Swimmer of the Week for his efforts at the Collegiate Winter Invitational. Depew was the top performer for the men with four first-place finishes. He registered an NCAA B-cut time in the 400 IM with his winning mark of 4:02.43, blowing the field away and touching the wall in first by almost eight seconds. With another winning time of 1:53.36 in the 200 IM, he also recorded an NCAA B-cut time. In the 200 back, he outswam all other competitors and touched the wall in 1:54.34, while in the 200 fly, he uncorked an NCAA B-Cut time of 1:50.38 for first place at the meet. In Depew’s only non-first-place showing, he recorded a second-place mark in the 100 back with a swift time of 52.31.
