NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>San Diego State University has gained their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from in-state standout\u00a0Mai McKenna\u00a0<\/strong>of San Jose, Calif.<\/p>\n

A versatile swimmer, McKenna swims year-round with Osprey Aquatics and owns eight Summer Juniors standards. She raced five events at Juniors West in December where she placed 24th in the 100 back and recently finished eighth in the 200 back at Far Westerns. This past summer, she raced both IM events at Junior Nationals.<\/p>\n

Also competing for Valley Christian High School, McKenna is a five-time CIF State Championship finalist and has earned NISCA All-American honors twice in her career.\u00a0She finished fifth in the 100 back and 10th in the 200 IM as a junior after placing fourth and second, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season. At the CIF-Central Section meet a few weeks ago, she grabbed gold in the 200 IM and silver in the 100 back.<\/p>\n

The atmosphere that the coaches and swimmers have created is absolutely amazing and I can definitely see myself thriving in San Diego.
