{"id":370863,"date":"2019-05-24T13:00:28","date_gmt":"2019-05-24T20:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=370863"},"modified":"2019-05-24T13:00:28","modified_gmt":"2019-05-24T20:00:28","slug":"indiana-water-polo-parts-ways-with-coach-ryan-castle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/indiana-water-polo-parts-ways-with-coach-ryan-castle\/","title":{"rendered":"Indiana Water Polo Parts Ways with Coach Ryan Castle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Indiana University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics <strong>Fred Glass<\/strong> announced Friday that he did not renew <strong>Ryan Castle<\/strong>\u2019s contract as head coach of the Indiana University water polo program.<\/p>\n<p>A search for Castle\u2019s replacement is underway.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant coaches <strong>Emily Carr<\/strong> and <strong>Taylor Dodson<\/strong> will lead the program until a successor is named and determines whether to retain them.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Associate Athletic Director <strong>Jeremy Gray<\/strong> will otherwise oversee the program until a new head coach is hired. That search is being led by Gray, with the counsel and support of advisors inside and outside the athletic department, including a student-athlete from the water polo team.<\/p>\n<p>At Indiana, Castle posted a 52-36 overall record with a conference record of 10-12. He has covered swimming at all levels since 2003, including the NCAA championships, USA nationals, Duel in the Pool and Olympic trials. He is a native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a graduate of Central Michigan University.
